Safari has siezed up on my MacBook Pro

Safari has siezed up on my MacBook Pro, version autumn 2011, OS X 10.7.4. I've search for solutions and followed the following potential solution but to no avail. Could anyone help? Thanks in advance!

Go to your user Library by the "go" menu and holding down the option key. Navigate to Preferences and delete "com.apple.Safari.plist" Then Navigate to the Safari folder and delete any .plist including the configuration .signed.. THIS WILL DELETE ALL YOUR BOOKMARKS AND HISTORY.. then reboot your mac
