Ios6 causing excessive data usage?

Since downloading iOS 6 I'm having major issues with my cellular data usage going through the roof! I used 1.5g yesterday and that was after going into every available setting and turning them off! Ie location services/icloud and all others! The only setting which uses data I have left on was literally the cellular data setting! I don't know why this is happening as I've never had an issue before since owning the very first iPhone! Is anyone having the same problem or know a fix? Any help would be much appreciated!

Having the same issue on both my iPhone5 and my wife's (both on AT&T). At least I'm still on the grandfathered Unlimited plan, but she isn't. She passed her 200MB monthly cap in the first week. We've both seen a huge increase (4-5X) in data usage over cellular, even when connected to WiFi, and even overnight while we're asleep.

We've started using the DataWiz app from Princeton to track the data usage hourly and by location (Great app!). Why is there no way in IOS to determine what apps are using the the data?!?

So far, we have...

- deleted the Podcasts App (we are both heavy podcast listeners)

- turned all email to Pull instead of Push

- disabled lcoation services for apps that don't need it

- turned off sending Diagnostic & Usage Data to Apple

- turned off Use Cellular Data for iCloud Docs, iTunes, FaceTime, Passbook Updates and Reading List

- She completely turned off iMessage on her phone

- turned off Use Cellular Data for iTunes & App Stores

- turned off Sync Bookmarks and Sync Collections in iBooks

- turned off Use Cellular in Music for iTunes Match

Still driving mystery cell data while in WiFi...

It's 1million % an IOS 6 issue and not an iPhone 5 issue. I am on an iPhone 4S iPhone 5 is "in progress" at ROGERS reservation. I have tripled my usage on the day I upgraded OTA to IOS 6.

It's sad I have had a 3G since launch in Canada and never ever thought 2x about my usage in 4years. It got to the point I never used wifi.

Now I am scared ******** to check my email. That's very bad....

Same problem here in the Netherlands I upgraded an 3GS and an 4S and both have excessive data usage. The 4S is used for a lot of podcast listening but the 3GS is for my son he only plays games I had to shut the mobile data plan down after two days since all his data has been used normally it is more then enough for the month. I used up my 2 Gb limited in a couple of days. That is with only checking mail, tweets sometimes a webpage (but no streaming media our big downloads) For me this is far worse then the maps issues.

We are finding since the latest IOS6 update our data usage at home has increased. I have checked all phones, iPads and computers for file sharing programs to see whether this is the problem (I have teenage children) but this does not seem to be the case. In 3 days we have used in excess of 30 gig of data, is anyone else having this problem?

Out of frustration, I went out and bought a Samsung Galaxy S3 yesterday. As nice as the iPhone 5 is, I'm returning mine for this "season". Maybe if Apple can wake up to themselves a little I will consider an iPhone 6 or 7 down the track. At least Android allows you to put a cap on your data. In Australia, it costs a LOT of money if you go over your cap and I am just not prepared to risk that. If my iPhone were jailbroken, I'd probably keep it, but of course, there is (currently) no jailbreak for the iPhone 5 and iOS is just a little too boring for me without it.

Goodbye iPhone 5 :-(

Is there anyone from Apple following this thread ? This is a huge problem and it needs to be addressed ASAP. I'm traveling in Europe, bought an 800 MB data plan (the largest one AT&T has for international roaming) thinking I'd be covered as I normally only use about 600 MB of cellular data in a month and I chewed threw 2GB in two days ! AT&T is charging me over $300 for the data overage charges ! I opened a call with Apple support and the person I talked to denied any knowledge of the issue.
