SLVR

Hi,

I just received my Motorola SLVR and unfortunately it is not iTunes compatible, however I want to take advantage of sending and receiving files via bluetooth. I used a Bluetooth Dongle (USB) and my Mac Mini recognised it immediately, providing me with the Bluetooth setup utility. It discovered my SLVR and paired with it, however it says that there are no available services that I can take advantage of between my mac and my phone. Also, when I attempt to send a file to my PC, it says that it can not connect.

I would simply like to know whether or not people are sharing the same difficulties. Any suggestions or advice will be much appreciated!

Thanks in advance

since you mac is provided with BT device, it should have what it needs to connect to one. Have you tried downloading any drive or plug in needed from the motorola web page to connect to the mac? Is you BT switched to active on your motorola? Is your mac BT working with other devices?

Hi Catarina,

My Mac was of the first generation Mini and didnt come with Bluetooth. None the less, I had it all setup correctly, all powred on a paired so that they were recognising one another, they just can't connect. I shall have a good search for a bluetooth driver from motorola.

cheers

Yeah, I think that it is just one of those things. I can actualy send files from my phone to my mac without any trouble using blue tooth. It is just when I connect to my phone that everything locks up. Maybe there will be a new driver in 10.4.7 or maybe even Leopard?

There are two versions of the SLVR. A US version that only Cingular sells which is 100% compatible with iTunes and a non-US version that does not have iTunes installed on it. There are plenty of hacks available to get iTunes working on non-US SLVR however I think it still will not work with iTunes.

Anyhow... my Cingular SLVR works just fine sending and receiving files via bluetooth as well as iSync. Perhaps this is another difference with the Cinguar SLVR and non-US SLVR.

The USB cable is a standard USB->mini USB cable, don't waste any extra money on a "special" Motorola cable 🙂
