FCPX and the case of the missing Alpha Channel

Ok I'm tired of this.

I have no doubt this has been covered in infinitum here but I can't find it.

Tried importing a clip with an alpha channel into FCPX. Nadda.

The clips works great in 7.

Have tried Animation codec and 4444. So why is this so hard?

I guess I'm missing a fundamental...so much for the days when stuff just worked.

Alright....figured it out. Can't use straight alpha...have to use black. (4444)

Lathe,

Im experiencing the same exact issues you were but cannot get a resolution with your reply. So a few questions...

What were you exact export settings from Motion 5?

Are you importing the file in any specific way? Do you have to change the "Alpha Handling" under the inspector>settings view ?

Banging my head on this one for a long while....the motion 5 file with alha works great in FCP 7.

Thanks in advance

Michael
