Add to iPhoto not working from Mail app

I have Mac OS 10.8.2 installed along with iPhoto '11 (v9.4). When I receive an email that has photos then try to use the "Add to iPhoto" feature from the save menu in the email, nothing happens. I have tried repairing iPhoto and even rebuilding the iPhoto but it is still not working.

I can save the attachments to a folder - that works - but the save directly to iPhoto simply does not work.

Any ideas?

Might be addressed in a future update. Watch for updates and install them

I posted this same problem on 9/23 and 9/24. Very frustrating and time consuming, but:

I figured out a way around it.

To save a photo in an email to iPhoto:

instead of clicking "Save" photo in the email, click "Quick Look" / then Expand the photo to full screen / then click the icon for "Add to iPhoto". It worked! Good luck.

This works because you are effectively saving the image to iPhoto from preview, not mail. Still a problem if you have 20 images and want to save them all at once. Apple needs to fix this.

I have the same problem since upgrading to Mac OS 10.8.2 Spent a couple of hours talking to two guys at Apple support who could not fix the glitch. The last person let me know it will be fixed in the next update. Hopefully within a week.

Just discovered if I double click the photo, photo appears in preview. Then using "share" click "to i photo" and it works!!! 🙂 The laborious way I found was to drag photos to i photo icon. The former is better until the problem is fixed

Thanks for the info. I previously posted a variation of your solution; both work ok for now. At least they are alternatives until the next update solves the glitch.

Upgrade to iPhoto 9.41 does not fix the issue
