I'm trying to block another fellow iPhone user via imessage. I already blocked "imessage" but they're STILL able to contact me? I've had their number blocked via Verizon but that hasn't helped either. I've heard something about changing my "apple id" but I don't know how to do this.
How do i block this person? Please help.

Try your carriers website both At&t and Verizon allow you to block certain numbers from texting you. There is no native ability on the phone.
I called Verizon and also blocked them via verizon's website but to avail. 😟

Wait a couple of days. Sometimes the phone companies are slow to activate this. You should also change the email address to a new one where you can be reached via iMessage.
If this doesn't work in a week or so, and you are still getting calls from this person, ask the phone company to change your number.

Calling your carrier will do nothing to block an iMessage from getting through to you. iMessage is NOT SMS nor is it MMS, which your carrier could block. iMessage goes through Apple's servers and has nothing to do with your carrier.
You may not like this answer, but it is the truth. There is no way to prevent someone from sending you an iMessage. Perhaps in the future, this may change if Apple adds this functionality, but for now, this is the way it is.
Yes she can. She just needs to change the email address that iMessage uses to get in touch with her.
That is true, but ONLY if the person is sending to an email address associated with her Apple ID.
If she has iMessage enabled on her device, and the person is iMessaging her via her phone number, changing an associated email address would have no effect.
If she has iMessage disabled on her device, she would be able to block (of course) all iMessages, and at that point, her concern would be to prevent the SMS messages from arriving (as she has already discussed).
To clarify, unless one turns off iMessage on their device, there is no way to prevent an iMessage addressed to a phone number from being received.
That's why I made the suggestion in my original post that she is perhaps better off changing her number...
Changing phone numbers and email addresses aren't always viable options. I've had a problem where I blocked my ex using Verizon's block feature, but texts were still getting through. Then I went into the Message section under Notifications within Settings. There is an option to allow iMessage from Everyone, or from My Contacts Only. So I selected My Contacts Only and have kept her blocked on Verizon and therefore when iMessage fails, the SMS message should fail as well!!
Well to update my last post, all it did was turn off the notification of the incoming iMessage, it didn't actually block the iMessage. I hope Apple decides to fix this. I don't want to change my phone number and I don't want my ex to iMessage me!!
