I am receiving text messages that are intended for other Iphones

Are you guys all using the same iCloud ID for the iMessage settings.. if yes, then this is the problem...

I fixed my problem by going under settings/messages/ send & receive. It showed me that I could be reached by iMessage at my phone number, my wife's phone number, and my email. I just un-checked my wife's phone number and my texts stopped sending me a copy of my own sent texts.

I recently lost my phone in New York so I have been using my friends old iphone. Last night I was added in a group message which was clearly not intended for me because they were speaking Spanish. I looked up the numbers in the message and all of them were New York numbers. I am guessing that the message was intended for the person who now has my phone but it somehow got sent to me. I had find my iphone but it never could locate my phone and essentially didn't help me locate it. Is there anyway I can use this information to get my phone back or at the very least how do I stop getting these messages without turning off my group chat (since I use it almost everyday)?

I had a friend that had a similar issue. They used their carriers tracker. They were with Sprint and not sure how it worked exactly but they were able to locate it that way.
