iPhone 5 bad call voice quality

Got the new iPhone 5 and have bad phone call quality. The recipient of the call seems to be able to hear me ok, but their voice either isn't there or drops out or sounds grainy like when you have bad cell reception. Many times, the calls have just not connected. I know that that my cell reception and the recipients cell reception were excellent. This has occured when calling other cell phones, land lines, and toll free numbers. Anyone else having this issue? Have an appointment at Apple tomorrow morning to see what they think.

After getting 3 Iphone 5 I finally had it with the robotic voice and got a Samsung S4 Active from my telephone company. It is zillions of lightyears ahead of the 5 in most portions, so I am quite content. I also read that IOS 7 may have resolved the problem, but....

I wish all users of Iphone 5 good luck with the product and I am far GONE! Set sails and and skimmed over the horizon. Ay to all!

iPhone 5: A quick bit of research showed the problem was caused by the case I have which, when opened fully and bent back on itself, partially covers and then interferes with the noise-cancelling microphone on the back of the phone. When not held in a fully open position, the voice quality was as it should be.

Specifically, the case is a South Twelve BookBook case. See an excellent and informative video at the following link.

Where did you get the IOS 7 Beta software as the latest software I can get on the phone is IOS 6.1.4. I had no issues witht he 4S, but at home it's simply not good where everyone else's phone is ok. I've had 2 phones (5's) in a month. Replaced the sim card with Verizon and been on the line with them for about an hour of them trying to reset some things. I may have to go back to a 4S or another brand if I can't get this to work the way it should. I have a Element 5 case which is aluminum case around the phone with holes on the sides and ample clearance for the other ports so that shouldn't be an issue. I'm not happy at all with this phone.

You know this is not an Apple site and it is illegal to download and use this Beta software unless you are a registered developer with Apple.

Ok. But do you know, why people are looking for alternate solutions since apple is not providing support to their customers. Apple customers are suffering with bad sound quality since launch of iphone 5. Resultantly, they are shifting from apple to Samsung for smart phones.

We (customers) have requested many times to apple to provide quick fix to robotic sound quality but no response has been received from them and people have also replaced so many iPhones 5 but the issue was not resolved yet.

Kindly advise and recommend Apple to listen the voices of customers so that customers could not adopt illegal ways for resolution of the issues.

I look forward your kind support and guidance in the matter. I hope you understood my issue.

Regards

Aziz

I have a iphone 5 with problems i have returned it 2 times now.

There are 2 faults with my iphone5, one is the robot sound the other fault

is bad antenna, i am useing my old iphone 3gs i get on same road to work 4 5 stripes on the signal meter

on the iphone 5 only 1 2 stripes on the signal meter.

So there are many problems that apple are not admitting, also the robot sound is a hardware fault on bad batches of iphones5, and not a software problem.

I am a sound engineer working with digital sound over ip and codecs the iphone5 suffers from very bad jitter when the bandwidth is not good.

I am on my 4'de Iphone5, all with the same fault, I hear voices robotot. Talked with Apple support yesterday and they say it is Telia's mast that is malfunctioning. But it is strange that it is only Iphone5 who has the problem. I talked later with Telia and they say that it's Apple's fault. Thus a hardware Iphone5. My case is now in the Apple Telia sent the case to. I hope Ios7 can remove the problem. The 10/9 will they announce that Ios7 is underway and it is released shortly afterwards.

I didn't read the entire thread, so maybe this has been discussed. I purchased my iPhone 5 about 3 months ago. After about 1 week, I had a problem where I could not hear anything when making a call. The speaker phone would work. It went away after a day. Today that problem came back. I went to the Apple store at lunch. When we tested it with an incoming call, the I could hear, but it was garbled, but I coul hear. The symptoms seemed to change from not being able to hear to robotic/garbled sound. The rep reset the network connection (Settings -> General -> Reset -> Reset Network Settings). After that, everything seemed to work. If the network is reset, the wireless passwords are lost.
