    Apone I have an '08 G35 sedan with the Bose system but no nav.  Is this what you have?  I've heard Infiniti is working on a firmware update for the nav cars only.

    This reply is to Ch\'Pok's post.  I wanted to caution you about your plan to buy an Iphone 5 and try to pair it in the parking lot to see if it works.  What many of us have found out and what happens to me every time, is that my Iphone 5 pairs just fine with my 2011 Infiniti G37.  And I do not have any trouble making outgoing calls.  And (and this is the point) I don't have any trouble receiving calls when my car is in Park.  In fact, if my car is going pretty slowly, I am often able to receive the call.  But my ability to receive the call goes down the faster the car is going - with a marketly reduced percentage on the highway!  And frankly sometimes I just cannot figure out why I could receive a call and why I could not.  So my point is, you can't decide anything based on what happens in the parking lot!


    Oh, one more thing, Infiniti told me that it was the cars with navigation systems that have trouble with the Iphone 5.  So I think you said you did not have a navigation system, in that case you might be just fine.

    I agree with Karennan. I had a 2009 Maxima and now a 2011 Maxima, both with Nav. Receiving calls is completely unreliable. Unless you're dead-set on getting an iPhone right now, I'd wait until Nissan/Infiniti or Apple release a patch. Otherwise just go Android!

    Thanks for the info hstein and Karennan. I'm going to see how it works overnight and return it the next day as a defective phone if it doesn't work. I checked Bestbuy's return policy and you can return cell phones. 


    But I think it will work for me or not right in the parking lot. My phone has been able to make one or two calls reliably after a new pairing then it immediately starts to get spotty; so I should know quickly. Also, my car is a manual transmission; so I should be able to just release the handbrake and the car won't know the difference. I'll be sure to bring my work Blackberry with me to demonstrate that it's not a problem with the car if necessary.

    Thanks for raising this problem.

    I have 2011 Toyota Sequoia with built-in navigation and hands-free Bluetooth system.  Priouvisly, it was perfectly with iPhone 4 iOS6.  Currently, iPhone 5 can initiate outgoing calls with no problem of connection with the car.  However, when receiving calls the call is muted for both parties.


    To overcome this problem, I used to answer calls from the iPhone device then change the connection to the hands-free manually.  I know this is bewildering, but I'm used to it for the meantime until a solution comes up.

    You are right, Honda /Acura needs to up their technology game. I rent cars every week and the most basic Ford Sync used on base models allows ONE BUTTON, ONE SPOKEN COMMAND access to the IPhone address list to make calls. ! It also displays the incoming call names from that same address book on the base radio display! Today's required multiple clicks and voice commands to make a call is a real safety issue! After owning 7 technology Honda products, currently 2013 Acura RDX, I have serious buyers remorse and must consider another brand if Acura cannot provide an update fix.

    Hi All. On my Toyota Sienna 2010, I was able to do some playing with settings and deleted all phones off of the JLB unit and start all over with my iPhone 5. It was successful. I was surprised but first the in and out calls did work and then I played with audio settings. If anyone has questions about it I can try to answer them but really I just did the above. Good luck everyone. I know that it is frustrating for all.

    I'm right there with you. I've got a 2013 RDX as well and am very dissapointed in the tech. It's circa 2007 with some minor tweaks. The display looks great but the GPS stinks. There's no integration with the GPS and the address book on your phone.The other thing that drive me me crazy is that there is no pause button anywhere. I don't think we can expect Acura to provide an update when they haven't upgraded their tech since 2007. It's a shame because they were one of the first to offer bluetooth and handsfree calling way back when. I'm not sure why they can make such great cars but ignore the tech.

    Does anyone have an official solution to this issue.  It has been several months since the iPhone 5 came out, it shouldn't take that long to fix this issue.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    I have the same issue with Honda CRV 2012.  I cannot pick up calls on the bluetooth; however, outgoing calls are ok.  To answer a call I have to go through the phone, and then put it on bluetooth.  It is trully a safety hazard.  Apple needs to correct he problems soon, it is taking way too long to hear udpates from Apple.

    I have a 2012 Infiniti G37xs with Nav. I spoke with Ray Catena Infiniti in NJ today & they said that they are aware of an upcoming firmware update from Infiniti that is supposed to fix this issue but don't have a confirmed date yet. Mine worked perfectly with iPhone 4S on the latest IOS, as soon as I upgraded to the 5 the problem receiving calls started. I deleted everything & started from scratch multiple times, I renamed the phone, etc. The only way for me to answer a call is on the phone then switch to Bluetooth, definitely not safe. I'm hoping they're not just telling me that they're waiting for the update just to get me off the phone. Even though I think it should be Apples problem to fix, I'm glad to hear that some car manufacturers are stepping up to try to fix the issue.

    Got an iPhone 5 and it works well with my car!  Not sure why some iPhones tend to work and others don't when running exactly the same software. 


    Having said that I will definitely check these forums before installing any new iOS updates to make sure they don't nerf it again. 


    Thanks for everyone's help and I hope Apple issue some sort of universal fix.

    What exactly is Apple saying about this?


    I have a 2011 Infiniti M56 and the bluetooth phone worked fine with my iPhone 4. When I upgraded to the iPhone 5 I can no longer answer calls via bluetooth.


    While I have read that Infiniti is working on a fix, shouldn't Apple be taking the lead?

    That is part of the problem.  Apple never says anything about it.  God forbid they admit they have an issue or give any information to its customers.  So far there is no fix for it.  A new version of the IOS 6 is in progress, but there are serious doubts Apple is even addressing this issue within that fix.  That last I saw was this was on its 4th beta version and a 5th beta may be coming out within a few days for developers to work with.  That means even if there was a fix coming in any release of 6.1, then it will be at least a couple of weeks before the world would know anything.


    Yes, it would be easier if they would just post something to give customers an idea if they are even working on it.


    My choice, if I had one, would be to get a different phone.

    For those still having issues with pairing their Bluetooth to their car or any other device, maybe my experience can help. I went from an iPhone 4 to an iPhone 5 about 3 weeks ago. My iPhone 4 worked perfectly with my car ('07 Acura TL) and my Jabra Bluetooth headset. As soon as I switched over to iPhone 5, I couldn't connect to Bluetooth at all. I also had a few apps that kept crashing. I tried everything outlined in this forum and 2 other forums, and it still wouldn't connect. I called Apple and they told me I would have to contact my car dealer to get my HandsFreeLink system updated. That didn't sound right to me, nor did it sound acceptable b/c I knew people with older cars who could connect their iPhone 5, and I also knew not everyone with the 5 and/or iOS 6 had these issues.


    I made an appointment with the Genius Bar at my closest Apple Store yesterday. It turns out my issue wasn't my car, it wasn't my Bluetooth headset or the iOS itself. For some reason, when I backed up my iPhone 4 via iCloud, something in that backup corrupted my iPhone 5. After running a diagnostic on my phone, the rep from Apple explained to me he'd have to completely wipe my phone (this is different from a Reset, which you can do from your handset). I had my Contacts saved on iCloud but other than that, I didn't bring anything else over from the iPhone 4 once the iPhone 5 was wiped out. In other words, if your issue happens to be a corrupted backup, you can't restore from iCloud once the iPhone 5 is wiped. So once everything was removed from my iPhone 5, I transferred my contacts over, then had to manually add back the apps I wanted. I also lost all my pics that were not in the Photo Stream, but that was no big deal for me since most of mine were saved to a computer. Once that was done, I was able to connect to 3 different bluetooth devices with no issue, including my car.


    It's a relief to finally have this resolved after 3 weeks of inconvenience whenever my phone rang in my car, trying to use my iPhone headset to talk. I know it's a pain to have to set your phone up all over again but I'm glad to just have it WORK!
