I just purchased the USB Super Drive and so far when I connect it to my Macbook Air, nothing happens.
Nothing pops up and I have tried going to Finder > Preferences > Sidebar, and everything is checked. I have also updated my software.
My computer doesn't seem to be reading the SuperDrive.
Also is there a disk inside the SuperDrive when you purchase it? In the manual it says to eject disk.

There is no disk in the Super Drive when you purchase it. Further, your MacBook Air won't recognize the drive until there is a disk in it.
The sequence should be:
1. Plug the (empty) drive into the MacBook Air.
2. Insert the disk.
3. The device will then be seen.
... and, by the way, you should eject the disk before you disconnect the drive using the MacBook Air to do the ejection.

I never recieved a disk with my SuperDrive though, do I have to buy it serperately?
No, there is no baseline disk. When you have a disk you're ready to read (e.g., a music CD), just connect the Super Drive to the MacBook Air and then insert the CD and off you go!
Again, remember to eject the CD using the Mac's software before you disconnect the drive.

I'm having the same problem she is but when it reads the DVD, it just gives me a little icon of the movie but it doesn't do anything, when I click it, it just opens a box w/ text and run scripts but nothing plays the DVD
