Q: iPhone5 and bluetooth issues

I have the iPhone5 and I am trying to pair it with my macbookpro model 3,1.  The computer reports the devices paired but the phone reports that the macbook device is not supported.  When I try to browse the phone from the computer then I get system not supported message.  I know my macbook is a bit long in the tooth but I am running OS 10.8.2 without issues.  Any suggestions?

MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)

Exactly the same malfunction occurs on my iPhone 5, and I just bought it! I wonder if they noticed already the bluetooth issue and are commited to amend it ASAP. It's an extremely important accessory! By the way, even what you said about the bluetooth icon happens just as you sad on my iPhone as well.

I am having the same problem syncing my iPhone5 to my 2013 GMC.  The iphone recognizes the GMC Acadia but the Acadia does not appear to recognize the iPhone5.  I had no problem syncing my wifes iPhone 4.

    Any thoughts?

Yes, just to add another one to the discussion: this is my first smartphone, and the possibility of connecting via bluetooth the my (year-old) macbook pro i took for granted. this really is not available?!! that's just stupid. am i missing something, or is there an easier way to send info from my computer to the iphone?

It does NOT pair with other phones.  Try a little research before posting non-sensical drivel.

Also, try posting using actual words and sentences so that it is easier for others to read the message... otherwise, do not waste your time.

I bought the Jabra bluetooth headset with the iPhone 5 online, liked it so much (my very first bluetooth) that I got another one just like it so i could keep one charging. They both just quit on me, no pairing possible, nada. Did all the things mentioned in this 35 page epistle. Nada. I am ****** off. I paid the creatures at AT&T for that thing (hey, I'm still on their original unlimited data plan and we live in the mountains of Colorado, few carriers bring service here)

I can't afford this, and now that i have discovered the headset (I spend a lot of time in meetings on the phone) I was overjoyed with the decision to bite from a 3G to the 5.

    Ouch.

I have the same problem, internet sharing throught iphone 5 worked just fine with MBA 2011 and MPA 2012, but it´s not working the way it used to with mye new MBPr 2012. Normaly I would pair the two and choose connect throught OSX BT meny and hit connect. and my iphone 5 would get the standsard blue notice at the top showing the two were connected, and it still work fine with my ipad mini 2012, it just won´t work with my iphone 5

BTW everything else that is suppose to work with BT is working, both for MBPr and Iphone 5, they connect to 6 different divices, cars, loudspeakeers, headsets etc, just the internet sharing thats the problem

    Have the same issue here.

The main problem is that I left my iphone 5 at the authorized technical assistance (here in Brazil we don't take to the Apple Store) and they are saying that my iphone 5 is perfect.

Now what?! Thanks for the headache, Apple.
