Unread VIP messages counter on iCloud shows wrong numbers

It´s even more anoying than that. On iCloud.com if I receive a new Email from a VIP the counter goes up but the Email does not go in the VIP mailbox. Everything is fine on Mac, iPhone, iPad but on iCloud.com

the counter next to the VIP mailbox and the general mailbox both go up. The mail is NOT in the VIP inbox.

If I read it in the general mailbox the counter goes donw on both.

Besides that I have the sam issue as the thread opener.

Hi there again. By now the emails get sorted correctly on iCloud.com which is nice. But the unread counter for the VIP mailboxes only knows one direction. It keeps going up. Whenever I receive an e-mail from a VIP the message raises the unread count in the Inbox and the VIP mailbox. The unread counter on the inbox behaves correctly the one next to the VIP folder goes one up and stays the same regardless of wether I read the e-mail or not. Very anoying.

Yes, they are not properly resetting the VIP unread count.

So who does one contact to get it fixed?ℹ

I've reported this error twice via Apple's iCloud feedback page on the website - http://www.apple.com/feedback/icloud.html

No solution as yet... but an earlier VIP bug (where, if the same contact sometimes sends as "@mac.com" and sometimes "@me.com", they had to have separate VIP mailboxes) was fixed. (At least, I think it was fixed: if you put all the relevant addresses against the same single contact in iCloud and delete any other instances of the contact with the same address, then iCloud creates one amalgamated VIP inbox for them. But I digress.)

The mis-count bug has been around since the day VIP appeared - hopefully getting a bit embarrassing for someone on the iCloud team? Maybe someone at Apple reading this?

No problems for me now either 🙂, probably after a software update...
