Kernel Panic

Hi Apple Community,

I have a 15" MacBook Pro. I bought it in August 2009.

I have been suffering from kernel panics for a couple of days.

I was running Lion and backed up my system using Time Machine.

When I finished, there was a software update notice.

And when I restarted, I got the kernel panics.

I can start in safe mode now.

I cleaned my mac using CCCleaner.

Delete all the StartupItems in the folder.

Ran Repair disk on both my mac and the backup disk.

I still get kernel panics after all those.

Oh, I updated into Mountain Lion hoping to slove the problem but didn't

Can anyone help??

The following is the latest panic log I get:

Had this problem and it was mainly caused by Google Chrome browser. I simply had to stop using Chrome, the computer would not run for 5 minutes with Mountain Lion and Chrome. Firefox works fine, so does Safari. I have had one similar problem running Safari, but it is not a very big problem compared to running Chrome. There are several other discussion threads open including some that point at Nvidia drivers. Chrome is not the only problem, but most people are able to live with Mountain Lion after ceasing to use Chrome browser.

I had exactly the same repeating kernel panic. Luckily I had a recent backup of my complete boot drive and suspected a startup item. So I did a diff -r /backup/System/Library/Extensions /bootdisk/System/Library/Extensions and my boot disk had one extra directory: NVDAStartup.kext - I moved this directory out of /System/Library/Extensions and rebooted and presto! My macbook is OK again :-))

PS. I went into single user mode by pressing Option-S (aka Alt-S) right after turning on the macbook.

Good luck !
