Before the recent upgrade to mountain lion I was able to save pictures sent to me via email direct to iPhoto. This is not working anymore, but the dropdown box indicates that it can be done. Does anyone know of a fix for this? Or is this another side effect of the new operating system?

I have a new iPhone 7plus, and was frustrated because I could no longer save photos from emails into my phone's camera roll the same way I used to. Turns out I was just pressing the screen too hard:
1) go to the email with the photo(s) you want.
2) press very lightly on the first photo for a second or two.
A pop-up then shows two rows of icons...
The first row includes Message, Mail, Twitter, Add to Memo, etc.
The 2nd row includes Assign to Contact, Copy, Print, Add to iCloud Drive, etc.
3) Swipe left on this 2nd row, scrolling until you see Save Image, and Save (# of photos in the email) Images.
4) Tap on Save Image
Your photo is now saved to your camera roll.
You need iPhoto 9.3.2 or greater for 10.8. (9.4 is current.)

I have 9.4 installed and it is not working.
I have aperture installed and it is crashing before it even opens. (A seperatue issue?)
Any other ideas?

I just upgraded to iPhoto 9.4.1 and still the same problem: when choosing the "add to iPhoto" option in Mail, nothing happens and iPhoto does not even attempt to start.
So I think the version of iPhoto may not be the issue. Could it be a version of mail? OR, could it be some new preference setting?

It seems Apple acknowledged the bug. Will be fixed in 10.8.3.
Can't save emailed images direct from mail to iPhoto anymore..
