Apple Event: May 7th at 7 am PT
Just updated apple tv with ios 5.1 and contrary to what they say airplay TO external speakers FROM the AppleTV doesn't work: I've tried with 3 devices (apple tv, imac and my airport express) but NO SOUND!!!!
Any idea?

Also, the Apple TV DO list all my Airplay devices fine, and selecting one of them will check mark it fine, but NO sound will even come out of the AppleTV to any speakers
Yes John, you are right. Airplay is not working for videos. It does work for Radio, or the music streamed from computer to apple tv. apple tv sees all my airplay devices & i can switch speakers from room to room. I wish i could watch movie on itunes ot netflix & airplay the sound through my AV reciever while sitting on zone B. I even disabled the dolby digital as per recomendation, but it still didn't work for movies playing on apple tv. While watching movie & chosing one of the airplay speaker just mutes everything. Plz apple give a brief manual how to use it, we are missing something.
But... Just works with music videos. The syncing is perfect between audio and video.
If it work with music videos, then technically, it must wortk with movies too. Apple should enable audio streaming to AirPlay speakers on all movies (or at least non-DRM'ed movies).
Alternatively, just go into each movie file and set the tag to "music video". 😠
