sorry anu, but am out of suggestions, i wish you the best for 3g and hope it works soon, and good luck for all of us, for the sms.....did you buy yr phone in the US or in india?

  • AnuWorld India Level 1 Level 1

    i got it in India..

  • Avi India Level 1 Level 1

well then you seem to be the luckiest of us all as well all on this forum seem to have bought the phone from the US so we dont have the option of returning or exchanging our phone, while in your case, it definitley seems like your phone is locked and you can definitely return it to the person who you bought it from and show him that the features dont work....

  • AnuWorld India Level 1 Level 1

But m nt lucky at all as i cant return my iphone..... i bought it in india but since its not officially launched here so i didnt get any bill regarding my purchase...so no claim at all....

  • Avi India Level 1 Level 1

have you tried restoring your phone? i guess that could be your last bet, it wont yet be able to send sms's but if you are lucky you may just be able to get your 3G back in action...other option is also to try and see if you have a friends who uses vodafone with an iphone 5 and try inserting a that sim to see if you can catch the 3G network, i can vouch for vodafone as i use the same and i dont seem to have any issues with 3G......

  • Avi India Level 1 Level 1

if none of the above works, then my suggestion is to seriously go back to the seller and ask him for a rebate as an iphone without sms, may still be livable, but without 3G is ............................ unthinkable!

  • AnuWorld India Level 1 Level 1

none of my friend use iphone 5 yet... but still i will look for a vodafone sim tomorrow.... hope things will b better...

  • Avi India Level 1 Level 1

well its worth it only if your friends have it, else it will involve a financial implication again, which wont make any sense, by the looks of it, going back to your seller is the best and i am sure he should be able to fix something or refund your money!.......all the best

thanxx a ton.... will try my luck tomorrow...

hey guys, i did write into apple this morning and after more than 3 weeks of purchsing an iphone, today out of the blue, i got a mail "Survey regarding your recent Apple iPhone purchase"

is it normai or it it just coincidence that after all these weeks i get a survey email.....

the survey was not specific to my/"our" problem, however not sure what to make of it, any of you got any such survey requests?

Hey Guys, I want to brief you all about the support case that i have opened with Apple. I got an email today stating Sprint iPhone 5 is desined to work with Sprint as a carrier in the US. He also mentioned that some functionalities may be limited to Sprint's use only. He gave me the workaround "Show Subject field" and no word about if this issue is gonna be fixed permanently. Here is a shocker....How many of you have tried using iMessage and FaceTime? Don't even bother to try using it as these two fall into the SMS issue and will not work on Sprint iPhones

  • Avi India Level 1 Level 1

the show subject field applies to MMS so that is a work around of sorts, howevver MMS costs are far hugher.....

my iphone cant use imessaging as it needs to send an SMS on start up for activation, therefore in our case  or cases imessaging definitely wont work, however in the case of face time, it works just fine......

could you kindly advise how did you open a support case with apple?

i tried by sending a mail to Tim Cook and got a survey mail today, did you get any such mail since your purchase?

  • Ashwath Narayan Level 1 Level 1

No Survey email yet. Just call the US support number to open a support case.
