Oct 24, 2012 7:25 AM in response to Pavel Yolshinby Ekimalito,I am a reseller of Apple devices and I got a small batch of Sprint phones unlocked for international use. Out of those 12 phones about 3 or 4 came with this SMS issue. However, other devices I personally tested were able to send and receive SMS no problem. As of right now I have a case being worked on. Apple contacted me after they read a message I sent to the big players. After about 2 days of my email they contacted me and told me to do some testing on the device which didn't fix the issue. After that they made me install the iPhone configuration utility on my Mac so I could send them the error logs when I attempted to send SMS from my phone. They said they'd reach up to me in a little while because the Engineering Dept. had to check those logs and see of they could figure something out.
I think this is an issue that's currently being worked on. It surprised me Apple told someone here that this problem is an intended limitation on Sprint phones. It even scares me a **** of a lot because I have to answer to my customers about this. The only way for us to change this is by bombing the emails of the big players so they can work something out for us.
Use the emails above and use email subjects with uppercase and exclamation signs and such.. They receive tons of emails and they will just mix them up with the rest if we don't distinguish ourselves from the rest.

Oct 30, 2012 8:46 AM in response to Pavel Yolshinby Ekimalito,Apple was able to solve this for me as well. Turns out its a problem on their activation server with the network profile provided to Sprint International Unlocked iPhones. I just switched sim cards and my SMS's started working again. A guy named Mike who happens to be pretty high in the company called me and made a senior advisor call me to explain further and run some tests on the device. After I did they said they'd contact me and voila I switched sim cards and the phone started working just fine.
I don't know of they'll be able to release a fix for this issue or just fix the problem on ther servers which seem to be the ones messing evrything up.
Good luck to everybody else

Oct 30, 2012 8:44 AM in response to Ekimalitoby Avi India,True buddy, ashwath as discussed you may want to follow the above prescribed mode as it seems to be the tried and tested method which seems to have done the trick.
None the less, THIS WILL BE SOLVED!

Oct 30, 2012 9:26 AM in response to Ashwath Narayanby Avi India,Buddy I guess in most cases it's the other way around, apple contacted us after reading our mails, so I don't know if jumping the protocol may work, but ya, if you have a case I'd already it may help.
In India the two cases that were solved, Prasad n me were contacted by apple support in Ireland, so if you followed protocol then it's only a matter of time that someone contacts you!
Best of luck buddy

Oct 31, 2012 2:15 PM in response to Pavel Yolshinby Ekimalito,Ok, so here's the deal. Turns out I just spoke to someone high at Apple. THis person took some time to explain to me that the reason these devices are having this problem with SMS is because Sprint decided to allow limited functionality of the device when used on GSM Networks while the device is still under contract.
He went on to explain that these devices are meant to be used on Sprint's CDMA network, not any other network. He said that provisioning files that are given to your phone at the moment of activation come straight from Sprint's billing system and that phones that were subsidized by Sprint will not fully work on different networks even if they are unlocked.
They fixed one of my phones that wasn't sending SMS properly by changing something on the phone's profile but they said they couldn't fix my wife's because I needed to provide proof of purchase showing I paid full price at an Authorized Apple Reseller. So go figure... this is intentionally done by our greedy Telcos... I don't know what to do now.
Hope this helps...
