Oct 5, 2012 1:29 AM in response to Ethmoidby Pavel Yolshin,Of course we report about this problem to Apple Support, to Sprint, to Apple Bug Reporter and to local carriers. By now there is no official explanation what is happening and is there a solution.
We continue the discussion here because we hope that once any of the customers get official explanation or a solution he or she will post it here.
Is the phone locked or not – it’s not the question now. As a customer I need full information about product’s limitations. Salespersons at Apple Store gave me wrong information, and it seems that nobody knows the correct information about Sprint iPhone 5 limitations.

Oct 5, 2012 1:34 AM in response to Pavel Yolshinby Ethmoid,Well, if you want to know about the Spring iPhone 5's limitations then perhaps that is a question that you need to be asking Spring directly and not asking on an Apple user forum.
Only Sprint can inform you of the limitations with the phones that it sells.

Oct 5, 2012 1:40 AM in response to Ethmoidby Pavel Yolshin,We ask it at Sprint Support forum and here too, since I've bought the product at Apple Store and I am not a Sprint client, I am an Apple client. For sure Apple user forum is an appropriate place to discuss such topics.

Oct 5, 2012 5:00 AM in response to Ethmoidby AppleStarBR,"whatever you have told in the US"
Ethmoid, so seems either Apple is failing BIG training its retail sales force or they are so scared of Android sales to the point they are pushing iPhone 5 to meet sales goals at any cost. It's unacceptable you are induced to error and buy a locked device when asked specifically for an unlocked iPhone. The conduct of Apple retail employees is the matter of this discussion now.

Oct 5, 2012 5:17 AM in response to Pavel Yolshinby michael.vietnam,So we are just hundreds of dumbs who bought an iPhone in US whitout any idea of what we are doing, letting Apple store sellers telling us what ever they want to sell their products and we shouldn't complain on the Apple user forum because there is nothing wrong ... what a joke
... so Ethmoid, when more than 30000 people complain about Apple map on this forum they shouldn't right ? because anyway Apple doesn't monitoring the forum and it will change nothing ... again what a joke

Oct 6, 2012 12:12 AM in response to michael.vietnamby Ethmoid,I'm not saying don't discuss it in this forum. Go ahead and discuss it all you like and you will get help from others users, but if you want to tell Apple specifically, then send them feedback specifically.
No, I'm not saying anything about anybody being right or wrong and yes, Apple maps are a bit of a disaster, which is why I used the shortcut clip to go back to Google maps on my phone.
All I am trying to say is that if you purchase an iPhone 5 in the US, then you need to be careful because unlocked iPhone 5's in the US don't exist at the moment so won't work in Russia. Full price and contract free does not mean unlocked, so perhaps there is a chance that you have indeed been misled and mis sold the phone by either a Sprint or Apple employee.
If you had wanted a truly unlocked iPhone 5, then perhaps the UK would have been a better choice, as all UK iPhone 5's from the Apple store will be sold fully unlocked and without a contract.

Oct 6, 2012 12:53 AM in response to Ethmoidby michael.vietnam,Hi Ethmoid, everybody here was aware of every points you mentioned, we all knew that there are no unlocked iphone 5 in US and for this reason we all paid a full focus attention on what apple store sellers told us and this is the problem ... Once again please don't make like we are hundreds of stupid guys spending more than 700$ without any idea if it will work or not, Apple store told us that even locked in US it will work outside, none Apple store staff made your answer, every Apple staff said it was ok, you can buy and it will work, is that clear ? Apple store ripped off our money by mistake or ....

Oct 6, 2012 1:48 AM in response to Pavel Yolshinby michael.vietnam,But you're right on 1 point if we want the thing moves on each one of us must report the pb to Apple, I also believe to keep posting here and every single forum can make a difference
-
Oct 6, 2012 2:13 AM in response to Pavel Yolshinby michael.vietnam,I also want to believe there is still a solution, if it's a locked parameter then Apple should admit the mistake and speak to Sprint to allow us to submit a request to unlock the device, we have all our receipt to prove our case, we have all activate the device outside US, easy for Apple to check

Oct 7, 2012 7:28 PM in response to Pavel Yolshinby AppleStarBR,Ethmoid and fromsouth answers seems too "Apple-ish" trying to suggest anything else but the possibility of Apple retail employees being not nice selling locked Sprint phones to people outside of U.S. with misleading information. Maybe this forum is not that "invisible" to Apple anyway. :-)
