iPhone 5 music will not play?

I recently purchased an iPhone 5 and restored all my music via itunes as per the normal process when you upgrade from an older model iPhone.

i noticed last night however when i wanted to play music for the first time that some albums would not play and the phone seemed to rapidly sort through all the tracks on the album but play any of them. To check it wasn't a phone fault, i tried to play other music on my phone and certain albums it was able to play and some it wouldn't (all of my music has been purchased from iTunes).

Also, my wife got the iPhone 5 on the same day and has the same issue.

Does anyone have this problem and know how to fix it? i'm sure there is a quick fix as Apple do not normally get things this horribly wrong.

Connect the device to iTunes.

Sync the device.

Does the content now appear correctly on the device? Does it play correctly?

If not, uncheck the option for sync music and sync.

Once complete, select the option for sync music and sync.

V-Dub is right... This fixed it for me: Plug phone back into iTunes, uncheck the sync all music box, re-sync phone (clearing all music from the phone) once that is done, re-check the sync all music box in iTunes, re-sync phone with iTunes. This should properly load all of your music onto the phone. Maybe the initial "new phone" sync has a flaw in it but regardless, this seems to fix it!

I am unable to store any music on my iphone5 since purchase. I have Itunes match that works prefect on my AppleTv and Ipad2 . I have even brought 2 songs from Itunes store on the phone. They download but do not show on the phone either. They will show on my PC, Ipad and AppleTv.

I have spoken to Apple Support and had to wait a week for a Genius Appointment. I was told that no other isssues like this have been reported. He suggested i get a Third party app that will play music. He is not allowed tell me which one though. Altghough this mayt work, i see an iphone not being able to play music as a breakdown in the fundamental basic of the device.

I have had the 'Issue' esculated higher but since they have not taken my phone or serial number i am unsure that up high will do. I have been disgusted in Apple Support and Genius teams customer service, Attitude and general lack of knowledge. I would think that if a product will not show any music content on it, then surely it is faulty and should be replaced especially if only 2 weeks old.

If any one can help me figure out if i can fix this i would be grateful. If not, i shall be returning a faulty product to the service provider and cancelling the whole thing. I won't go on about my service provider charging me £93 for 6 days having the phone. When i have a unlimited data, calls and text deal. They say they have cut my bill but i is still showing online at the full amount.

I tried using a couple different music player apps and the same thing happens: skips and doesn't play at all. I searched on Apple.com on this issue and it looks like a lot of people are having the same problem. It would be more sincere to admit there is a problem and help fix it. I will try the fix above but feel the work around is a cop-out since its a brand new phone and should work out if the box- especially the iPod features. I hope the fix works but don't appreciate having to spend the time and effort on something g that 'should' be working

I have the 64 GB iPhone 5. There have been problems syncing to iTunes. The programme freezes and will not recognise my iPhone afterwards unless I reboot both the phone and computer. Also, once I get close to using the the full storage capacity, the music player goes crazy, won't play and scrolls through songs on any album. I''ve already replaced 1 iPhone 5 and fear another exchange is not the solution. Resetting does not help and BTW, I do not use automatic music sync, so unchecking as mentioned above is not appropriate. Apple pretends this is a unique problem. I would disagree based on the comments above. Any advise welcomed. I was a huge apple fan, but fear the iPhone 5 does not live up to their reputation. On another note - putting the headphone on the bottom of the device just shows that whoever changed the design is not a smart music user :-) Steve Jobs would not have accepted such an inferior design or product.

Tried the above solution and the phone can now play music, but not through my bluetooth headphones. So far, I've had one problem after another. Now it appears the battery is loosing charge even after a 30second call where all I did was leaves a message.

I'm considering taking the phoneback and getting a Droid. I'm tired of doing Apple's quality control and testing for them. Sad!

I'm having the same problem. This is my second iPhone 5, I had to exchange the 1st one for signal problems, which of course the guy at the apple store kept telling me it was my network, funny I don't have the problem now, but can't get my music to work, shows it there try to play it and it just skips it and goes to a different song, says there's over 900 songs on it but won't play half of them! I agree I think apples customer service and products are getting crappier every day! And god forbid they admit something's wrong. I complained to 4 different people about the way I was treated in their Tacoma Wa store and do you think one person has done something???? Nope! And if you don't live close to a store be ready to have them put a hold on almost $700 on a credit card to send you a new phone! Yea cause we all have an extra $700 laying around for them to do a WARRANTY exchange. This very well could be the last apple product I purchase, and I've had an iPhone since they came out, my next purchase was going to be a MacBook, hmmmm maybe not
