iOS6 / iPhone5 camera flash bad timing

I too had this problem. I called apple and they have bad this problem sometimes not just with the iPhone 5 at first ** when the 4s came out also. This is what worked for me....go into settings general reset and choose reset all settings. Then restore your iphone from back up. Just make sure u sync your phone and right click on it in iTunes and select back up. Once my phone restored from back up it fixes whatever firmware issue there was with the flash timing relay or whatever the apple guy called it. Hope this works. Pretty easy fix took less than 10 mins total.

I tried to use the flash today and I got the same issue; tried to take a photo in very low light, the flash came on, then as soon as it went off the camera took the photo - so I ended up with a black photo! Will try the restore and see what happens...

I dunno if it makes a difference or not buy the apple guy told me to reset all settings first then do the restore from back up. It has worked for me without messing up since. I've restarted the phone more than once to ensure it doesn't act up again and it hasn't. Good luck :)

Same problem I had. Easy fix! Just reset your phone by holding home button and wake button at the same time until you see the apple logo. Fixed mine that fast.

Mine seemed to start working again; I went to show the issue to someone and it was working! Not sure if I had restarted it or not, but seems to be fine now. Worth trying a restart first though (as suggested by Eagle326), before going down the reset route...

you have do a hard reset using home and power button - this has fixed my issue
