If you want to delete particular contacts, highlight them and from menu bar Edit - Delete Cards

To remove all Fb contacts.........well I've never tried this, but on the left side of the contacts you see all the accounts syncing contacts (for example an iCloud account, a Facebook account, a Yahoo account, etc). So select your FB account from that left side list (just check if only your FB contacts are shown), and do what I said above, highlight all contacts and Delete Cards. Would hopefully work

Is the "Delete" option transparent or something in the Edit menu or it's not even there?

yeah well I too noticed that problem when I updated to 10.8.2, but somehow it works now

Are your contacts syncing through iCloud, or Gmail or something? Maybe try switching to iCloud (this shouldn't have anything to do with your problem sinc it's about FB contacts, but just give it a random shot)

Well this can be done by going into system settings and then internet accounts. In the left panel click on your facebook account and then you will see an option to uncheck contacts. This will remove all facebook contacts. Also if you want to delete the one by one, just go into your contacts and delete them one at a time.

Here is a video that shows you how to do it if you are a visual learner:
