Battery Drain after iOS 6 Update on my iPhone 3GS -16G

My iPhone 3GS 16G on iOS 6 after update.

2 - 3 hours it's flat & thats from a full 100% (over night) charged phone with no use

& then keeps switching on & off for 20mins or so in charge mode after it's been pluged in to the charger.

Never had a problem on the old iOS 5.1.1 got up to 2 Days on standby .

Never had a problem with my phone ever until the new iOS 6 install. 😠

Reset and reboot did nothing for me.

i've done all of these and will see if my phone lasts overnight when it finishes charging for the third time today. It makes no sense if it's being cained in Airplane Mode though, thought that rendered all external access and processing obsolete??

Got onto Apple Teckies yesterday & spent about 1.5 hours on the phone with a very helpfull bloke

that went through everything.

At this stage my phone has been reinstalled with iOS 6 as a New Phone (Like a test mode) so NONE

of my APP's or Settings only my Contacts from iCloud (As a New phone would come out of the box).

... From the time we finished uploading the iOS 6 softwear untill now my phone has only used 40%

battery so it's looking good.

If this works I then have to conect my phone with my iTunes & Reinstall from my Back Up to get all

My App's & Settings back.

... Then we will see if it has worked.

... Will let you all know what happens in the next 48 Hours. ℹ

I have also been having the iPhone4 16G battery drain problem since iOS 6.0 install:

e.g. Phone/battery charged to 100% overnight;

then unplugged for one-hour with NO usage;

battery is now at 70%!

If I have to go through what you did—for all of us—with Apple, I think I am done. I am so tired of being a slave to all these updates & reboots & debug re-updates!!!

It seems as though I spend more time updating my iPhone4, iPad3 & MacBookPro, than I do using them. So, again thank you & I will be looking forward to your follow up posts. I hope Apple can give us all a better solution than 1.5 hours with customer service followed by a full system do-over.

Any updates?

I bought and fitted (and wrecked connections 3&7 in the process) a new battery with THE SAME RESULTS!!! IN AIRPORT MODE!!!!!

APPLE, THIS IS RIDICULOUS!!!! WASN'T THIS TESTED??? I'VE NOW WRECKED MY PHONE! NO NETWORK OR SOUND ON IT ANYMORE AND THE BATTERY LIFE IS WORSE THAN A 1980'S REMOTE CONTROLLED CAR!!! (EVEN WITH A BRAND NEW BATTERY!!!!!!)

Well my iPhone 3GS is working better but still not fantastic on the battery life only

getting about 24 Hours stand by with a small amount of calls, internet & apps being

used.

The problems I was also having when my phone was pluged into the PC seem to

have stoped & I still think that is iTunes - there is a iTunes BIG Update coming in

this month so we will see what happens with that.

I have still got an appointment with the techies at the Apple Store for this week so

if my iPhone is no better I will go & see them.

... Will post more info soon. ℹ

Same here with GS3 after IOS6 update. After battery is drained phone won't charge any more and keeps resetting itself.

Solution: press power and menu button simultanously and wait untill reset. After reset, keep holding menu button so the phone goes into recovery mode. Connect to iTunes. The battery will charge now. You don't have to restore. Just wait untill the battery has enough charge and the phone will switch back on again.

My phone was totally screwed, even with a fresh install (no backup). Even on a retro install to 5.1.1 (you can do this via itunes - it's actually really easy - just select that version to back up from). Apple eventually gave me a replacement, which is working perfectly. Ridiculous!!! They've totally shot theirselves in the foot this time! Good luck guys.
