My MacBook Pro restarts when shutting down

Hi All,

I have a MacBook Pro 2 GHz Intel i7 with 4 GB RAM. It was running fine till i upgraded to 10.8. A lot of times when i shutdown my system it automatically restarts and on startup it tells me there has been an issue and when i log back in it asks me send a report Apple, which i alwas do. But this is really painful as this happens randomly and when i shut it down again i might and it might not restart and in one or two restarts it finally shuts down. Ive even updated the OS to the latest 10.8.2 but to no avail. Please help if there is a solution.

Try resetting your PRAM with the instructions here:

http://support.apple.com/kb/PH11243 (Step 4 as soon as the computer starts to reboot)

If that doesn't help, try booting into safe mode:

http://support.apple.com/kb/PH11212

Then restart and see if issue is resolved.

Lastly, you can try resetting your SMC but this can be tough if you're continously getting reboots:
