ipod 5th gen won't work with itunes 10.6.3

My 5th gen iPod (A1136 model, 30gb, from late 2006) won't work with iTunes 10.6.3 - when I connect my iPod via the usb it will not show in iTunes, it only charges.

I recently updated to iTunes 10.6.3 and had no problems before that.

I've tried restarting my laptop, and also reinstalling iTunes but no luck!

Also tried both USB ports and restarting the Ipod.

Help asap would be appreciated so I can put my new songs on my iPod! Thanks.

Does the iPod appear in Finder on your Desktop anywhere? Have you tried using a different USB cable to rule out the possibility of a faulty or damaged cable?

Thansks! Using a different USB cable did the trick. Noticed on the USB I was using that some of the silverwas exposed outside of the white plastic (from years of use!) this must have been the part that allowed it to sync as it was still allowing the ipod to be charged! So used a more recent one I had, and it worked! Ipod all up to date 🙂
