after updating to iOS 6 gps signals are no more transmitted to tomtom or navigon

With iOS 5.x TomTom navigation worked fine. Now with iOS 6, I have to turn on the localization service (ok) AND the wifi. In fact, the gps data is not transmitted from the antenna to the application (TomTom or Navigon). iOS 6 is really not sexy...

I also have a GPS fail after upgrading to IOS.

First it worked. But then suddenly, while on the road while using Navigon, GPS got lost and it never came back.

Or not for long. Sometimes it shows GPS conection for a second or two, then it got lost again.

I resetted and restored my iPhone several times but till now with no avail. It's just not working as it should.

And it really ***** because when you buy an GPS app, you it because you need it and use it often/daily.

Not very fair of Apple to neglect their users/customers.

I hope they come up with a descent fix very shortly.

In reply to Danom, I had the same problem at the time I buyed the car kit. It is not related to the iOS 6 problem, it is just a connection problem. I had to fix a square of felt 1 mm thick on top of the car kit so that the iPod is held firmly in place even if I drive on bad roads (connection problem 1). The second problem is due to poor electrical contact of the cigarette lighter socket causing the same symptoms.

Wow, I didn't figure out there was a problem until I was trying to navigate on Lake Ontario using my iPad and Dual GPS receiver, which has always worked flawlessly. I am really pi**ed off about this. I don't know who to blame, Apple or Dual. Anyway, I found a fix that, so far, appears to be working. But Apple and Dual - come up with a permanent fix for this!! For what's its worth, here's what worked for me, which I cut and pasted from a the Foreflight website:

"Go to the main iPad Settings app.

Tap on “Privacy”.

Tap on “Location Services”.

Toggle the top row to “Off”. This will turn off location services for all of your apps.

Reboot your iPad (press-and-hold the top button for 5 seconds, slide the red slider to power off, wait 5 seconds, then press the top button to turn your iPad back on).

Go back to Settings -> Privacy -> Location Services and turn location services to “On” for your iPad. Also make sure that location services are set to “On” for ForeFlight Mobile.

Leave your iPad connected the Internet for a few hours (the screen can be off). This might not be necessary, but we have encountered a few rare cases where this fixed the problem."

I was reading this thread in chronological order and was thinking thymjan had better luck than me, as I did almost exactly the same things, but then you said the GPS wasn't working again suddenly - exactly my experience. The Dual XGPS150A worked for about 1 day after a total reinstall but then the signal was not sent through to other apps. Resetting the "Privacy and Location" settings does work sometimes but I'm still trying to discover a reliable workaround until the bug(s) is fixed.

I have a problem similar to icecros. Non of the suggestions were able to fix it though. I am using an ipod touch 4g along with a dual xgps 150. It worked flawless with all my gps apps (navigon, imap my run, golf card gps...) until I updated to iOS 6. Now non of them work. It does work with the dual gps status tool app, which just shows satellite info, But as soon as I close it out and try to open another app it quits working. This did not happen before the iOS 6 update.

The problem is not solved with iOS6.0.1 update. It happens any time a second app uses location services or sometimes it just stops working for no apparent reason. If I turn off location services and reset the iPod it comes back ok for a while. If I am in a built up area the problem is worse because cloud sourced location seems to have priority over the GPSr and is very inaccurate. The is a serious fault in iOS6 - Apple please do something about it!!

It didn't stop, I'm mean the GPS fail... and then, one moment, I got soo mad that I've spent so much money on a device that doesn't do what it's made for: being a handy smartphone, and rocketeered the **** iPhone skyhigh to make it find the **** gps satelites.

Unfortunately, the iPhone isn't equipped with a parachute to break the speed when coming down again.

It was clear that the impact with mother earth was much more then it could take and the iPhone became a device. a broken device. RIP
