At least one other use has posted the same problem. That user also said he went to TomTom's support site and it seems that iOS 6 is cause the problems. I recommend go to TomTom's support site.

This is not only a TomTom problem. I've an external GPS receiver (DualAV/axxera XGPS150E connected with Bluetooth) with the same behaviour:

Yes definitely an IOS6 issue - I've a DUAL gps and a 4th gen Touch - this just looks like apple not checking or caring about compatability with older models. (like Air play Mirroring pre Mid 2010 Macs.

After reseting and restoring my iPod touch with iTunes for OSX the external gps-signal is recognized again by maps / navigation software. An other iPod touch 4G did not have the problems after updating to iOS 6.

DUAL does know the problems.

So there might be hope for a better life soon...😉

No, I repeated the restore of iOS 6 several times. First with iTunes for Windows (the one, the iPod was synced with), second with iTunes for OSX, and surprise surprise: gps works again. Maybe it's allready useful to restore the iPod with an iTunes which is not synced with.

( your data will get lost by restoring iOS, so backup everything you can before the procedure )

The system that did the restore which brought the gps-system back was: OSX 10.6.8, iTunes 10.7 (21). First I reseted the iPod before connecting it to iTunes. I did a complete restore, gave a new name to the iPod and synced it with the different library.

After that procedure the gps-data of the Tomtom Carkit and the DUAL Universal GPS Reciever XGPS150E is shown in maps / navigon etc. as usual.

Then I synced the iPod touch with ITunes for Windows 7 again. GPS is still working.

I. Restored mine now I get the location but navfree is 90 to 180 degrees out from direction of travel, I'm beginnning to loose it with ios6 how can I go back to 5

If the position / the travel direction is not exact it seems you have only positioning by WLAN signals an not gps, do you?

Yes I turned wifi off and lost the navigation. So it looks like ios6 has f-ed up my dual gps now. So not only are apple tring to make there own products obsolete they are making other companies as well. Dual I guess need to come up with a fix. As apple will be focused on there own crAppy map problems.

Now I lost the gps-functionallity again. Doesn't work any more. Does Apple change code without telling the users?

I had two iPod touch which worked with external gps-receivers. Today, September 30, they give up working with them.

iPad 3rd generation without cellular still works fine with external gps-receivers.

The problem is not with the tom-tom car Kit or the dual external GPS. The problem has to do with iOS 6 privacy settings. I have an iTouch 4 and I been having the same problem with my GPS. I'm using the tom-tom app and the tom-tom car Kit. The solution for getting the GPS working again is. First shut down the tom-tom app or what ever app you're using. Now go to settings And General and then scroll to the bottom and tap reset. Now tap Reset location and privacy. Now load your tom-tom or navigation app And it should prompt you to turn on location service again, Say yes. Now under location services you should see The tom-tom app or the navigation app you were using and slide it to on. Now Your tom-tom app should be working correctly now, But the catch is it's only going to work until another program ask to use local services. It is definitely 100% an error an iOS 6 Privacy settings. I have no idea why it does this but you can reset and it'll work every time.

2. Aufrufen: Einstellungen / Allgemein / Zurücksetzen / Standort & Datenschutz

3. Navi-App wieder aufrufen. Fragen nach Standortdienst mit Ja beantworten.
