Apple remote control in Windows 8
Does anyone know how to get a standard Apple remote to work in Windows 8 on a 2012 Macbook Air?
I don't see any issues in device manager but I don't see an IR receiver listed.

Hi, I saw this question while looking for something else, and noticed it hasn't been answered. I don't think the macbook air has an ir receiver, which is why you probably dont see it. Have you tried obtaining the boot camp drivers? you can go to boot camp setup in OSX, and after the initial walkthrough there is an option for saving the "windows support" utilities to a flash drive. save then take it into Windows, and reinstall boot camp drivers if you havent already. Otherwise I don't think macbook air laptops have a reciever to see an apple remote with. Sorry. Alternatively, if you have an iphone, ipad, or ipod touch, there are remote apps in the app store to remotely control your laptop. I believe there is one which mimicks an actual apple remote. good luck. 🙂
