It's not a Mac problem. It's an ACDSee problem. Users in the iPhoto forum have no knowledge of how ACDSee works.

What programs would those be? Ask customer support for those programs.

I think people understand that iPhoto is a lossless photo library. I think the overall complaint is that iPhoto doesn't have photo directory for access to upload photos. iPhoto should have an option to create all the photos in the iPhoto library into a default directory of equivalent JPG's. For instance, everytime I put photos on iPhoto, the new photo's should be put into a folder in jpg format. It wouldn't be that hard. It's also not like computers don't have the capacity for that idea.

Few if any users want to double their storage requirements and receive no benefit - photos are easily accessable using the supported methods - however if you really believe that you certainly should suggest it to Apple - iPhoto menu ==> provide iPhoto feedback

Search the iPhoto forum for those with MacBook Airs with smaller SSD boot drives and large libraries. They are frequently bumping into a space problem. External HDs are a solution but possible not for portible Macs.

It doesn't need one. it has Media Browsers that are more space efficient and can be searched in more ways than a directory.

Are posts in the forum meant to be a discussion or an argument? My opinion, all though you may choose to decypher it however you like, is not up for discussion. However I will further explain for the "logical" thinkers. I have a couple hundred photos. I wanted to get one of them from my iPhoto library for a website. Instead of having an automated JPEG file folder, I had to open iPhoto and drag the photo onto my desktop. Upload it and then delete it from the desktop. I have a macbook pro with tons of extra space. If I had a million photo's I might not want a directory automatically making my photos JPEG's (this is why I said "an option" so a user could choose). Sure I could File > Export my photos but I would have to do that every time I uploaded new ones. This whole point is simply about saving time. I just want to save time and for things to be easier. I realize that some people are trolls and/or incapable of reasoning with varied thoughts and opinions. Probably the people responding to this post. I won't be reading any of them or further explaining my opinion.

You're trying to use iPhoto in a manner it wasn't designed for. If you don't like how it works tell Apple via http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto.html. We're just helping others to use it as it was intended to be used and offer some possible workarounds. Maybe iPhoto isn't the photo management tool for you.

However, with Automator you could create a Folder workflow that when you upload photos from your camera/iPhone with Image Capture it will import them to iPhoto and copy them to any designated folder on your HD OR EHD.

Well I'll explain that this was not at all necessary if you take a moment to learn how to use the Application... That's why I responded. You're talking about an application that you don't understand and don't know how to use.

You want to upload a Jpeg to a website just use the first of these.

No exporting, no dragging, no trashing. Just you're entire iPhoto Library available in every Open... or Attach... dialogue on the entire OS.

That is simply because you do not know how to use iPhoto - the correct and extremely simple way to access your photo is using the media browser as TD's very first answer explains with pictures

In your very technical explaination of iPhoto - you seem to be missing the point of the question completely.

On Apple's website the explaination of iPhoto is as follows "iPhoto for Mac lets you do more than you ever thought possible with your photos. From this it seems like you should be able to easily FIND, EDIT and SHARE your photos. Yet when the library is grayed out it is difficult to do any of these.

You access photos for upload using the media browser - on the left of the upload window under media ==> photos ==> iPhoto - as well documented in this forum and in these forums
