iCal database couldn't be rebuilt

Since installing OS 10.8.2 which apparently includes iCal v6, I get an error every time it opens = while it is "Upgrading Calendars..." which says "iCal database couldn't be rebuilt = events cannot have multiple exceptions for the same date".

I have a decade of information with multiple calendars. No similar problem with any prior software upgrade

Any ideas??
