How to downgrade iOS 6 to iOS 5.1.1 ipad2? Does anybody know? Restoring itunes not working. I hate this ios 6 because:

1. Maps is terrible - that is not maps

2. Battery drain rather faster then ios 5.1.1

3. Appstore is ugly and have a lot of bug with freeze, rotation and etc. not only on ipad 2, but ipad 3 too.

4. Youtube is running on safari is not fullscreen and terrible res.

5. I never never never saw so ios firmware that look like and work like alfa version!!!

6. Still can't downgrade to 5.1.1. Why????

Well, this disussion is a bit disheartening. Apple has foisted an inferior product upon thier customers (can you say Vista) and refuses to allow its customers to access a better version of thier product for which thier customers paid what could be considered a substantial amount. My company would fold with this kind of customer support.

There seem to be few options:

Live with an inferior product;

Void your warrantee;

Abadon your investment in this product and get something else;

Pray for SJ's resurrection

All I can say is that Apple had better release an IOS upgrade that will fix everything and wipe this version 6 debacle away, Pronto!

* Go back to the old App Store layout. One result per page is ridiculous.

* Figure out a way to play nice with Google, because crippling your devices by denying them that company's great tools is NOT the way to win. I don't want to buy an Android phone; I want to stick with iPhone. But I'm not going to stick with it if you insist on suddenly taking good stuff away -- even if it is a competitor's good stuff.

* Either scrap your stupid Maps system and embrace Google Maps, or work like madmen to make your Maps even remotely competitive with the mature Google Maps system. I'd prefer the former choice -- why reinvent the wheel? -- but if you insist on doing it yourself then it sure as heck better be really, really good.

* Give us choices for color themes on the phone touchpad. The new color theme stinks.

* Improve battery life. My iPhone uses up juice quicker on IOS 6 than it did on IOS 5.1.1.

Better get cracking on a new IOS upgrade, because IOS 6 is the Windows Me of the smartphone industry right now. Just awful.

Um, how the heck am I "threatening other users like myself"? What does that even mean anyway? I made no threats to other users. I am fully aware that Apple does not frequent these forums. I was venting an opinion about IOS 6. It's an opinion shared by a huge number of users and by most reviewers in the media. If IOS 6 were so wonderful then all of those many YouTube videos would not exist. None of which work for me, by the way. I have a 4S and I tried. None of those tutorials work.

A restore such as that that you wish to perform can be found on other forums elsewhere (and contrary to some who may comment here does not require a jaibreak to perform).

However great care is needed to perform a rollback (It is essentially a factory restore followed by a standalone installation). Suggest you research the issue thoroughly before attempting.

As with any process there is a trade off between functionality and data retention, and waiting for a 'fix' for current problems will usually outweigh need to attempt anything as drastic as this.

You are fortunate to think it is not that bad. For me, there are two pretty major issues: one is that certain apps stopped working, two is that I really really do not like the fact that apple gets to decide what version I can run, after just releasing a new os.

It used to be that the hardware determined what os one can run. Now it is arbitrarily decided from an ivory tower. I can only fear what comes next. This comes close to fascism. (I am sure this will be removed for using that word, which actually adds to the statement)

Knock yourself out. But do you actually think anyone here cares?

James, James, my friend,

This "goatranger" is just another one-post-wonder. He is a sock puppet, in reality probably a 12 year old Android/Samsung cultist whose parents don't know he is online. Apple centric forums are full of these one-post-wonders. They make one incendiary post and never return. Their goal is to stir the pot, nothing more. Mr. goatranger no more has an iOS device than the man-in-the-moon does.
