How to downgrade iOS 6 to iOS 5.1.1 ipad2? Does anybody know? Restoring itunes not working. I hate this ios 6 because:

1. Maps is terrible - that is not maps

2. Battery drain rather faster then ios 5.1.1

3. Appstore is ugly and have a lot of bug with freeze, rotation and etc. not only on ipad 2, but ipad 3 too.

4. Youtube is running on safari is not fullscreen and terrible res.

5. I never never never saw so ios firmware that look like and work like alfa version!!!

6. Still can't downgrade to 5.1.1. Why????

You know, you're right in what you're saying, and I can see a good things in new maps. BUT, you have to have in mind few things, that a lot of peaple where depending on google maps and its unique features. So when the new update came and your reliable tool was replaced with the crap one, and that was done by the company that you believed all these years that its the best product maker, so that made me very angry. And you know I was swearing fow couple of weeks every time I tried to use the new tool.

At the other hand you could say "come on guys this is jus one flaw", but its not. New Mac OS came with problems, youtube app removed - WHY?! A lot of apps made by apple came with horrible updates. The last phone update (iphone 5), cant be caled update. iphones reception is still much poorer then other brands, if it lost a signal it takes ages to catch it again, even if you're back to good reception area.

So, its quite a few disapointing bits.

Lets see whats coming next.

I can see why Scott Forestal was sacked. This situation is beyond a joke, if the google map app isn't approved or crippled i will have to move on from iPhone. What a stupid arrogant decision Apple made. People wont accept a reduction in functionality with a software "upgrade" and going to the extent of deleting a thread that embarrasses Apple is an embarrassment in itself.

I am really dissapointed Apple really care what iOS firmware version you want to restore your device to - In my case iOS 6 release broke some of my apps and I use my iPhone/iPad for business so I was really crippled until there was a fix for those apps. This nonsense you cannot revert back to previous version is really mindblowing. I had a BlackBerry previously and there was no prblem reverting back to previous firmware on their devices if something didn't work. I really hope this will not be transferred over to computers too where one cannot roll back to Lion from Mountain Lion if some applications are not working properly... I believe if you pay for a device you own it and should be allowed to do what you want with it as long as you are not breaking the law of course. Isn't this what America is all about, freedom?

Oh my god you guys really need to get over it iOS 6 is fine adds on features that iOS 5 didn't have. Why downgrade newer versions are always better. iOS 6 is completely better if you want to complain about the maps there are google maps, and youtube. You guys really sound ridiculous. Sorry it's just my opinion I just think you guys should update there are nice changes and its not bad at all there really aren't any problems with it there's already about or more than 75% of all iOS devices updated there really is nothing to complain about. Again I'm not trying to fight I just think you guys should let it go.

You can do whatever you want with your iPad. You can toss it in a blender and use it as home plate in a baseball game. Any damage caused by either would violate your warranty... as will jailbreaking it to revert to an older OS. You have the freedom to do what you want with it... and Apple has the freedom to design a system in which the OS can't be reverted.

You do indeed own the device and may do with it as you will. You do not own iOS however. You are granted a license to use iOS, but you do not own the operating system, and it is not yours to do with as you wish. Apple owns the operating system, and thus gets to set the terms of use for those licensing access to it.

Well guys, I think you both right and both a bit wrong.

Looking from a customer side if new OS makes your device less usable for you, by slowing it down or making some software to stop working so then you should have an option to downgrade OS. And personaly I would be happy to have this option. From my experience during 4 years using iPhones and Mac I learned do not rush with upgrading my OS.

At the other hand looking from Apples side, there is a reason do not alow downgrades. Rather is security reasons or just a silly thinking that there is nothing better than the new product. One way or another they seems to be putting a lot of effort to fix problems with new OS's. So All we have to do just dont rush with upgrades.especialy if your hardware is more than 1-2 years old.
