Remote Desktop Can't Connect to Server 10.8

I've upgraded my server to 10.8 and I can no longer connect via Remote Desktop 3.6.1.

I have Remote Management in the System Preferences checked.

I also have Enable screen sharing and Remote Management setting checked in the Sever Settings.

It shows available in the Computer Listing of ARD. I have deleted and re-added the computer to ARD. When attempt to connect with ARD I get the following error: Connection failed to “my_server”.

Please make sure that Remote Management (in the Sharing section of System Preferences) is enabled on the computer to which you are attempting to connect. Also make sure your network connection is working properly.

Any suggestions would help

A lot... and I mean a lot of people are experiencing this issue. Things that seem to involve screen sharing seem to have broken in the latest 3.6.1 update. Many of us are furious. How could Apple let something like this happen when one of the core functions of the app is to screenshare.

We're a victim of this just as you are and have been researching it for the past week. Other then downgrading to the previous version, which is difficult at best, there is no fix. It's seems this is something Apple needs to fix on their end and who knows how responsive they'll be.

I had this same issue and found something that worked for me:

I too tried the remedy specified here of disabling and re-enabling -- but it didn't work. So I went one step further and removed all privileges for remote management and then added myself back in. That worked. It seems Remote Management panel had somehow lost connection between displayed user and the real user. (?)

This worked for me also. Strange.
