iSync 1.5 and Sony Ericsson k750i

Question

iSync 1.5 and Sony Ericsson k750i

I'm old-fashioned, I know, but I'm just getting used to the idea of iSync. Bluetooth link works fine, and I can browse the folders on the phone without problems - but iSync refuses to acknowledge the darned thing. Is there anyone out there can tell me, please, how to get iSync 1.5 to find my phone and stop coming up with 'No devices found'?

The phone bleeps every time I scan for it, and says 'Session ended' - but still iSync pretends it's not there!

Any help gratefully received.

Many thanks for that - my trouble is, being computer illiterate, I don't know how to open that file. I can get to a folder that says it's the BTConduit.Bundle, but can't open that folder - the machine asks me to open an application to work on it, and I don't know which to use. Any advice?

Hi, Jools

You've got me moving forward, but although I can get into the file BTConduit_phones.plist in TextEdit and perform the amendment, there seems nothing I can do to save the changes. I just get a message telling me that it cannot save to that name. If you can help, I'd be really grateful!

Sounds like a permissions problem. If you're not already, log in to your Mac using your Admin username and password. Then try editing the file.

If you're already logged in as Admin, try the following:

Before you editing the 'BTConduit_phones.plist' file, click once on its icon and choose 'Get Info' from the 'File' menu.

At the bottom of the window that opens, where it says 'Ownership & Permissions' click the triangle next to 'Details' to show all the popup menus.

Try changing the settings there until you have 'Read & Write' access. You'll probably have to enter your admin username and password at some point to make changes.

Once the permissions are changed, close the 'Info' window and try editing and saving the file again.

The problem seems to have been the permissions as you thought. However, when I tried to Ctrl-click on the BTConduit.bundle there was no "Show Package Contents" element. I had already gone straight to the plist section and updated the permissions there, but that didn't work. Thinking logically, I wondered whether there was a tree of permissions, so I changed permissions in the BTConduit.bundle and the Contents list as well, and now, at last, I have a full address book on my computer.
