redeem digital copy without DVD

I just purchased The Avengers blu-ray and it allows you to download a digital copy of the movie. There is a DVD included with the digital copy and a key code, but is there a way to just download the movie through iTunes? I have no DVD drive on my Mac Mini.

(I do have an old Windows laptop with a DVD drive. I realize that I could go to the trouble of installing iTunes on it, use the DVD, enter the code and load the movie and then transfer that over to the Mac Mini on a USB drive, but I'm trying to avoid that and just be able to download the movie on the Mac)

Mac mini (Mid 2011), OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2), no DVD drive

When I type the code into iTunes, it says "You must insert your Digital Copy DVD into your computer in order to redeem this code."

In this day and age where less computers are coming with optical drives, I was hoping the disc wouldn't be required. Most other blu-rays that I have came with a code that did not require you to insert a disc.

Yes, I can see where they would want to make sure you actually have the DVD versus getting an access code off some web site on the Internet.

I also guess they figure if you don't have an optical drive then you won't be buying movies on discs. There's probably nothing for it but to use the computer with the drive.

I have never done a digital download or even used the iTunes Store but have you tried going onto iTunes Store to see if there is a way you can just type in the code?
