No Audio in AirPlay mirroring from my mac (OS-ML) to Apple TV

Yeah, whats up with this Airplay audio problem. Reboot my MAC...give me a break I should just go back to a Windows system if I need to reboot the system. Apple needs to fix this junk they been selling us. This is a joke that Apple support has not come into this forum and helped us. Dumping my MAC crap now. I wish Steve was still with us.

I had same problem and tried what Couchfires suggested:

Try running this from the terminal : sudo killall coreaudiod

It worked for me.

If every solution I've searched for on a thread worked as well as the terminal/sudo killall coreaudiod fix. I'd never stop smiling. I didn't even have to stop the video that I was playing. I just ran the fix and then enabled Apple TV again. Sound was there!

Hi there, I'm somewhat new to mac. I tried to put this command into terminal and was asked for my password. Use the one that I have to install software on the mac but it didn't work. do I need to enter something before that command? thanks!

I had the same problem the best solution is

go to sound --> built-in --> sound off

apple tv (airplay) --> uncheck the option sound off

worked for me

Just an FYI .. this has STILL not been fixed as of OS X Mavericks .. something of a disappointment. I guess Apple can't be bothered to fix OS X bugs any more.

Yeah, it's a bit disappointing. I would imagine that a lot of Mac users are using software other than iTunes for media streaming.

I ran into this issue after I unplugged my apple tv while doing some furniture rearrangement. Instead of restarting my computer. I simply turned off my wifi on my mac and then turned it back on. Worked liked a charm again.

This worked perfectly and is much less of a hassle entering code into the terminal, or restarting. My hypotheses about the issue is not a problem with the ATV or OS X 10.8/10.9 but more along the lines of a Network setting problem that is causing them not to completely pair sucessfully. Will be purchasing a better router in a few months will update my findings.

The router won't make a difference. Not all the programs support airplay that's why it doesn't work always..

itunes, safari, quick time player, ... it works on all of these programs. this means it's the program that doesn't support it.. nothing to do with a router or something else

i noticed that whenever i switched to an airplay device, it always set my volume to 0. just wanted to throw that out there.
