why will my ipod shuffle not sync?
Having trouble syncing my ipod shuffle, it won't syn but is reconized by itunes.

itunes is up to date, and it is the latest shuffle. when i try it says there is a file folder missing. But i have synced them before.
I, too, amd having this issue. 4th gen shuffle, Vista, latest version of iTunes. I have restarted computer, iTunes, and AMDS, and tried all the usb ports. iTunes initally recognizes the device (I was able to delete some trx on the shuffle), but then when I try to copy addt'l trx to the device I get a "file can't be read" error. There is nothing wrong with the mp3s: they play fine in iTunes. Oh, wait, 1 track is syncing VERY slowly and iTunes is becoming unresponsive...I'm betting it fails again any time, but I can't wait, I just ejected the shuffle. What is going on?

I finally got iTunes to recognize and sync with my ipod, but I don't think it was anything special I did other than keep trying different USB ports until one worked.
I have just put up a message for help with this issue ........... seems crazy that we are all asking about the same thing!
On Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 (though I've not seen it in Windows 8) there are certain USB device drivers that run as background system processes that seem to interfere with the iTunes helper service. One solution is to try unplugging any other "special" USB devices, terminating each USB-related background process in Task Manager in turn, and removing/reinserting the iPod USB cable until it works -- you can then find the culprit and uninstall/update the offending service.
The most common culprit in this regard appears to be the Logitech webcam software.
