Messages on mac using phone number

So in ever-so-magical theory, Apple is supposed to have unified the phone number and email problem with your Apple ID so that all your iMessages show up on all your devices...except that on my Mac, with OS X 10.8.2 installed, my phone number is not listed in Messages as a place to receive messages at. So I still have the dichotomy problem. Is this fix coming down the line, or am I not doing something right?

When I upgraded to iOS 6 my iPhone number was passed through to my 10.8.2 instalations. Maybe you need to sign out and then back in to iMessage on your iPhone. Have you upgraded to iOS 6 yet?

Yes I have upgraded to iOS 6. It is working fine on my iPhone 5. It is on my MacBook that the phone number is supposed to appear, but is not.

I solved it. Sort of what Ben was saying. I signed out in Messages on my MacBook and signed back in and it fixed the problem. Thanks Ben.
