Q: Iphone 5 signal loss

Anyone else having a problem where when you lose signal for a lengthy period time such as on the train the phone doesnt find signal again when you are clearly in a area that would have signal. Only way around this for it to stop saying "No service" is to reboot the phone.

It reboots and has signal again

Anyone else getting this problem?

iPhone 5, iOS 6

Had this issue and one where my signal would be weaker than another iPhone 5 we have. Just been to apple and ha the handset swapped. Seems like its fine now. Been to no service and found signal again without prompt. Hopefully this is not a hardware issue and I've just got lucky though.

I really do not know what the specific issue is and I do not have LTE in Connecticut either.  I have tried all the other fixes as posted and none of them worked.  However after turning off LTE I have not had the problem.  The Iphone 5 is acting more like the 4G.  I cannot remember totally losing service on the 4G at work.  It is sometimes down to 1 bar, but it worked.  Since turning off LTE I have not had No Service on the phone and the battery life seems to be a little better.  Probably due to not constantly looking for LTE when I was at work.  Day 2 and the phone seems to be acting normal.

Well my original problem reared is ugly head again the other day.

Plus the way this iphone5 handles its modem is just twitchy at best.

I'm sure it's one of the main things messing with the battery life as well.

BUT there may be light at the end of our tunnel

Apparently apple are already testing 6.0.1 and even talk of 6.1

Apple have just replaced my handset for this problem, but not had it long enough to see if the problem was fixed.  Now that ios has been updated i will never be sure whether the handset or software solves the problem, if indeed it does.

I was given a new phone last month from apple, I still have the same problem :(

Since reading ur lost I've discovered that IOS 6.01  is available to download so I'll give that a go and hopefully we will all see the right expected(?) results

Upgraded my iphone 5 to ios 6.0.1 and already had the same issue. I was hoping it was going to fix this as it's really annoying and happens all the time on mine due to poor signal where I live.

I to experience this issue.  I have iPhone 5 running iOS 6.0.1 on T-Mobile (EE).

I was getting this issue on 6.0 so turned of LTE (under settings / general / mobile data).   I then went days without it happening.  I don't get 4G where I am so it makes not difference.  Still get 3G with this off.

I then upgraded to 6.0.1 yesterday and decided to turn LTE back on.  Today I had the issue again so 6.0.1 hasn't fixed it but it looks like LTE is possibly the cause.

I checked a friends ip5 who is on O2 but he hasn't had this.  When I got him to check LTE he doesn't even have this option listed, just Enable or Disable 3G..  Maybe this is why he doesn't have the issue???

Why wouldn't he get the option of LTE on his ip5?

I'm on 3 which doesn't have LTE yet so that's not the problem.

    http://www.apple.com/iphone/LTE/

Only EE in the UK has the LTE network that works with iPhone.

I'm on O2 in UK and the battery life and reception is totally useless. I'm ultra disappointed with iPhone 5 over 4s to the degree which I am looking to switch to WP8.

Forget what I said earlier about it looking like lte as on 4.0.1 it even happened with lte disabled.

Anyone tried 4.1 beta to see if it happens on this?

I was close to returning my phone to the store and getting it exchanged, but then I tried turning off the automatic carrier setting (Settings -> Carrier -> Automatic) and setting the carrier manually to the one that I am usually connected to. Since then, I haven't had any problems regaining the signal after "No service"!

    Try it! (iOS 6.0.1)

    Hi imGrim.

Your issues sound exactly like mine. Have you had any luck? I have the 64gb white iphone 5 and wondered if this issue could be confined to any certain model.

I have tried all you have done too with no luck. I don't live close to any apple store so am trying to figure out what to do next.
