Q: Iphone 5 signal loss

Anyone else having a problem where when you lose signal for a lengthy period time such as on the train the phone doesnt find signal again when you are clearly in a area that would have signal. Only way around this for it to stop saying "No service" is to reboot the phone.

It reboots and has signal again

Anyone else getting this problem?

iPhone 5, iOS 6

That's not the same problem your still getting a signal even with one bar, what we are taking about is that when you lose a signal and then walk to a place with a signal the iPhone 5 does not relock onto it and continues to say no signal and by powering down the phone or turning airplane mode on and off you get your signal back and the iPhone 5 locks on this is a software bug we hope and not a hardware problem as I hope this gets noticed by app,e and gets fixed ASAP in there next release.

I am having signal issues too.   One moment i lose signal. And when i am back in area with service it still show one or no bars.  ***...   The worst phone ever.   I bought an iphone 4 launch day. It had one problem.  Steve jobs took care of it immediately even though he was on vacation.    I have dropped wifi.  Phone heats up.   Scratches out of the box!    Static line on keyboard.  And muffled call audio.  Lags everyonce and a while.    Jesus....  Is it a coincidence that right after Steve jobs decided to leave the next phone comes out and its soo buggy in soo many ways.  Reallly.. Apple.  Like really.  I loved u guys. Now I am not sure.  **** right Tim cook you should applogies for not delivering world class product.   U guys have swooped below windows phone in one shot!  Find a fix asap!

Well it's been a week or more after I applied my fix

And the issue has not returned.

I can actually watch it go from No Service

To having a signal within seconds.

My pals who I work with in the same venues

Who applied the same fix also now have no problems.

And we all use a mix of providers.

Same problem. On Three in UK.

iPhone 5 loses signal and then does not regain it unless I reboot. I can sometimes make a call even though 'no signal' is showing, and it will find it again.

I reset my network settings and it is better but not fixed. Definite improvement though.

What does "its better" even mean lol

Surely if your getting the same problem which I originally posted about then your phone is now either regaining signal after losing it or it isnt! lol.

Point taken, not the best choice of words. I find that it is happening less frequently but it still happens.

I've tried Arthur's recommended fix and it doesn't work for me.  It's happening every day  when travelling to and from work. It cannot be a long term fix as that would mean it would work for everyone.  I'm glad it is working for most of you though :)

    Give it another try Sam.

Everyone I've done it too worked, and most people here.

If your fault is that..  After loosing signal by going into a place that doesn't have coverage.

Then going 'back' into a coverage area your iPhone still displays 'NO SERVICE' untill you force it

By toggling airplane mode or rebooting the phone.

Then evidence suggests 'resetting network settings' should fix the problem.

The only downside to this fix is, you will have to retype passwords once more to previously known wifi hotspots

When attempting to reconnect to your home or office wifi, for example.

But they will be remembered as usal, untill sutch a time as you reset network settings again or force

    To forget this network individually.
