Facebook push notifications not working for Iphone 4S running IOS6

Having the exact same issue, although the banner and little number notifications ( sorry not sure what the proper name for those is) seem to work very sporadically. Never any sound though. I'm using the built in fb app.

Im having the same problem! No notifications from facebook on my Ipod touch 4 g. It was working fine until I installed the facebook messenger app. Then ALL the notifications from the facebook build in app dissapeared, I started receiving messages notifications from the messenger app but the rest of notifications (posts,likes etc..) was gone. I tried to uninstall the messenger app but it did not solve the problem.Later on I decided to reinstall the messenger app,after all,I was receiving messages notifications through this one but after I reinstall it it wasnt working anymore 😟 😟 Now I have 2 apps and none of them give me any notifications!

Im very upset about this situation since I got my ipod as a birthday present 1 week ago. Please help me!

I cleared all cookies,data,and history,deleted the app and >shut it off for a while and then on..

Downloaded the app again.. Now I got notfication back as before.. hoorayyyyy...... 😁🙂

I did the same, but it didn't work for me. Did you remove the Facebook account from the iOS as well?

I tried that as well and it didn't fix mine 😟 I didn't remove the account from iOS but I will try that now. I forgot about it being in there.

I to did the same thing with no resolve when you say you clear cookies and what not you are referring to browser??? That is the only cookies you can clear. This seems to be a issue with the recent changes to fb and the integration into iOS 6.

It's not an iOS 6 issue. I was having the trouble a few weeks before the update came out. I think it's a Facebook issue. My friend has a android phone and she is having the same problem.

Referring more to fb update the notification structure for the integration which would have been done before ios6

Well I did most of what all if us have done already and went a step further and deactivated my account with fb well still nothing but it did seem to help the hit or miss with some notifications I wasn't getting with friends

I did all that too plus turned off everything and deleted the fb messenger app then turned off my phone for about 30 min. I powered it back on and reinstalled the fb app signed into everything and no luck. I give up.

I believe that this problem came through since I updated the facebook app itself..Not from iOS6

That's why I deleted old stuff before..

Anyway, I'm going to tell what I did again..

1. sign out from facebook

2. delete the app

3. delete cach,cookies,data,history ( I wish I could soak my device into water and wash it by soap if I could by that time😝)

4. turn the device off and then on in a few minutes later (30 minutes might not help 😉)

5. download the app back

6. set facebook app from setting menu to allow notification

7. go to notification of the phone looking for facebook and then set the alert style to "Alerts" that means it will right away popup in the middle of screen if someone reach you.

8. log in to facebook

9. go to account setting make it allows notification

10. turn the phone off again (it might not necessary to do that but I did..😁)

Once I turned the phone on.. a few minutes later.. I got the miracle.. something popup on screen.. I was so exciting and right away hit that pop up.. It brought me to the facebook..then I hit the problem button that I had.. I saw a little thing moving around on top.... second time exciting.. (increased from first a half left) and then list of notification dropt down with lists.. By that time house's wall has broken from my screaming.. 😝

Those all I did.. I know how annoyed I had before and I hope it help you get rid of that feeling..

P.S. I wish any one from facebook app&apple team come visit this page..So they know how well they could drive people crazy !! 😁😁

I had the same problem and I just fixed it...
If I had to guess, did you guys had facebook messenger installed on your iphone? If you did, it's more likely that is causing the problem, because once i installed it, i stopped receiving notifications, but it kept going like that even after i deleted it. So here's what i did to fix it.
On a computer, open facebook on your account and in the search bar, type facebook,
Select first, facebook for iphone... Then on the right side, click Remove.
This will log you out of your app.

Next, do the same but choose facebook messenger for iphone this time.... And Remove it too.

Now, log in back to your facebook app, and all notifications will work out just fine.

Now let's hope they make better apps next time instead of focusing on putting new features .-.

Thanks!!! I think it worked for me!! Although I will confirmed if its 100% fixed in a couple of days since it has happend before that it works again for a few notifications and then they dissapear again. But this time I think it will be fine 🙂 Thanks alot!

That does seem to help the notifications but the sound is still a no go partially correct thanks for the input
