When I open Passbook it is static and only lets me hit the goto the App Store. I have several of the Passbook Ready apps. Such as United but nothing shows up. Idea?

Do you have a United airline ticket with a boarding pass?
Do you have a rewards card with one of the retailers that support passbook with their iPhone app? If so, you can add the rewards card to passbook from the retailer's app.
I used Passbook with the Fandango app this weekend. When I ordered the tickets, it asked me if I wanted to add them to Passbook. Once I selected yes, they showed up instantly. I assume Passbook waits until something is sent to it from an app and doesn't go looking for it. Once the tickets were used and deleted, Passbook reverted back to the original screen you descrbe. If you dont have any boarding passes waiting to be used, then Passbook doesn't have any real function.

I do have a united boarding pass shown through the united app.
Having not used that particular app, not sure I can help much more. Is the United app the most current one compatible with Passbook? I'm sure there is somewhere in the app to let you display the pass in Passbook.
