I'm running a year-old iMac (27-inch, Mid 2011, OSX 10.7.5). When I run the Mountain Lion installer, everything appears normal up to the reboot phase. It then proceeds to reboot the machine back to the regular 10.7.5 login panel. The ML installer never runs!
What is going wrong here???

So, the installer is still in the Applications folder? Has it downloaded completely at the time?
Download the installer again? If not possible, consider a clean install?
I'm installing from a .dmg file.
(Note: The .dmg file contains "Install OS X Mountain Lion.app", which I double-click to run.)
(Note 2: This same procedure has worked fine on other machines, just not this one.)
Where is that .dmg from? In a normal situation, as in "purchased and downloaded from the App Store", you'd find the .app file in Applications.

Will try moving "Install OS X Mountain Lion.app" to /Applications and see what happens...

Obviously, you have developed "your own procedures", and then it is hard to impossible to troubleshoot...
Guess you'll have to elaborate on those procedures, or also develop your own fix. Sorry.
