My ipod screen has cracked quite bad , and my cousin was telling me you could take it in and pay for the screen to be repaired and they will give you a new ipod is that possible?

I cracked my iPod screen.. It's an 8 G and I want to get a replacement by paying the fee.. Is it possible to pay a little more and get the replacement to be a 32 G instead? For the replacement price? Or will they only replace it with the exact same one? Also, I'm 99 percent sure I got it from apple but it may have been best but I don't remember.. Does that matter? Will apple replace it regardless for the replacement fee?
And if it's a 2 or 3 model.. Can I replace it with the 4? And can I pay that price instead? It looks like its cheaper to replace a 4.
