Why is ical / google calendar resetting my reminders to 1155 minutes?

I have google calendar set by default to remind me 15 minutes before an event, but when I enter a new event in ical, it sets a reminder randomly (sometimes 1035 minutes, or 1155 minutes, etc.) Please help! I don't want a reminder that's 19 hours before the event...
