I have a bent iphone 5 ?

i got my phone on release day, and after setting up it put it in my back pocket, i never usally put it in there just my other pockets were full with my car keys and now light as air wallet,

after going to fit a case i finally tracked down i noticed there was a scratch at the top and a bend in the middle of the "-" volume button, some people have been reporting some issues but i woundered if anyone else has experienced this ?

i took it back to the apple store the next day and told me that it couldnt have come out the box like that and its my fault and if it wanted it fixed it would cost me £170 and other than that there was nothing else they would do

does anyone have any suggestions ?

surley the glass should bend if it was so called "gorilla Glass "

thanks

iPhone 5, iOS 6

Hi, signed up to give you some advice.

My girlfriend had the same problem, have heard a few apple stores have blamed user error, she phoned apple and supposedly there are a fair few cases of this, call them, it is a known error, some phones got through apple's 'checks'.

They HAVE come out of the box bent, hers did and inbetween the volume buttons were damaged.

I owned a bent iPhone up until last week. Apple Care and the Apple Store advised me that I damaged my phone. I do not deny that my phone bent from being placed in my front pocket as I transported my 3G, 3Gs, and 4 for the past few years. I understand that the phone was under pressure in my pocket, but sacrificing normal use for a lighter and thinner phone is something that Steve Jobs would not have sacrificed. Look how long it look for multi-tasking. It was not because it was a difficult function, but it was due to the user experience along with the factors of the battery life and other impacts. I was advised that my phone was now out of warranty and it would cost around $200 to replace. Ugh! I just paid $200 phone for the phone less than days before I realized my phone was bent.

Thankfully I pre-ordered my phone from WalMart. As much as I hate going to WalMart and getting rid of this phone, I love there return policy and willingness to let me return the phone before my 30 day warranty was up. Even more, I now own a 4s, that will not bend under normal use and does not sacifice usability.

I now grasp the concept of thinner metal is easier to bend and agree that Mr. Jobs encouraged a thinner phone, but I believe that to get to the point of being thinner and lighter, Mr. Jobs would not have sacrificed the stability and structure of the phone for this. I think the glass front and back along with a stronger (non aluminum) band of the previous phones provided the stability needed for every day use. There are few reports of them being shipped bent which I do not deny that I placed my phone in my pocket. But if this happening during manufacturing, I think there is a design flaw that caused me enough concern to return the phone as I prefer to be able to transport my phone in my front pocket.

i have an iphone 4. i was ready for a new phone. and i was going to get the iphone 5. but i'm not going to get a phone that bends. i could have put up with the maps problems, and scratching and scuffing. but i often have my phone with me at work and need a phone that doesn't bend. apple, i have a macbook pro retina, and ipad, and an iphone 4..i buy your products because they are made well, and they work well too. But i'm going to stop buying your products if you can't make them sturdy. especially the iphone. it's the one device that gets used all day long. And it must be sturdy.

i'm probably going to buy a windows phone, because i don't think i want to wait a year for the iphone 5s 😟

maybe you'll have this design issue fixed by then, or a completely redesigned phone. with working maps.

Another bent iPhone 5 with screen delamination after less than two months of use, carried in my back pocket. Was told by my local Apple Store *genius* that this was considered abuse and would be subject to a $250 replacement fee. I asked him why should I invest a total of $450 to have a phone I would need to carry around in a purse?

The only abuse going on here is that Apple is selling a product that is unsuitable for its intended purpose. Longtime Apple fanboy reluctantly looking at an Android replacement. Absolutely pitiful.

So after a month or two of being bent my screen finally gave in and cracked all the way through, took it back to the apple store and they said it was something I had done, I couldn't even get an word in to explain my case, they didn't want to hear it . So I went to speak to the manager and I have to say he was probally the rudest man I've ever met ! He started shouting abuse at me and told me I did it on purpose to try and claim a new I phone, but why would I do it on purpose ? If of was built properly in the first place I wouldn't have needed to go to the apple store to sort it ... Apple have now gone down in everyone's eyes as an untrustworthy company, I've now started raising awareness of the issues and the lack of support from apple and many people I've spoke to will never buy an apple product again, I read somewhere it costs them £36 to make a 64gb iPhone 5 and then charges an outrageous price to the public ... Go to **** apple where you belong

Same thing happened to my phone... It was in a hard case since I got it... I never put it in a back pocket or dropped it... It is covered in ghost armor... The Apple Store said I bent it and it was out of warranty and they refused to replace it unless I gave them another $220. Rediculous!!! The aluminum is simply too weak for this phone... Had I known this problem I would have gotten the 4 s... It is a design flaw and most of the bends are right there at the lower volume button! It is hard to believe they even tested this design!!

so i went through with my plan to get a windows phone. that was a mistake. i don't know if i had a bad phone, or if windows phone was just buggy. i think it was both. my internet sharing (hotspot) didn't work for more than a minute. and then the mac sync app started crashing after every time i plugged it in. It also crashed 2 times in a week. there was dust under the lens. (lumia 920). My car stereo usb cable wouldn't work.. heck it wouldn't even charge it. overall an awful experience with windows phone, and i only had it for a week! if microsoft wants to make mobile phones they are going to have to do MUCH better.

so i took it back. and got an iphone 5. i love it so far. i was worried that because of the new cable it wouldn't work with my car stereo... but apple's phone does! and flawlessly. everything just works. just like it did with my iphone 4. i'm still worried about it bending, so i just put it in a case. problem solved.

My iPhone 5 was in an Otter Box Commuter case too! and today I took the phone out today to clean it, and I noticed that it was bend by the "-" button. I am very very disappointed and upset, I'll have to buy apple care for $50 and then pay $50 to get another phone which uses up one of the two replacement times. I'm not sure if it's from pushing the phone out of the case and pushing to hard, or if it's from dropping it. But there must be a weak spot right there (and it's only on the right side), so the right side of my screen when it's black (like when powering on) all along the right, you can see where the screen kind of glows white!! And now my phone is super glitchy, as if I bent the processor or something. I mean, come on Apple! I've seen better than this craptastic iPhone 5! I have told everyone I know who said they were planning on getting an iPhone 5 not too!! The crap bends!!

I have a bent iphone 5 ?
