Q: 5 orange lights when plugged into usb, and music will not play.

Well-it is showing music on the device under the device tab.

Funny-I just ran diagnostics on it, and although the device is recognized under iTuens, and I can send music to it, it is failing a synch test.

The shuffle will not play music when connected to iTunes, and it will not play music when disconnected to the computer.

Nope-not playing music in any situation. Not when connected and appearing in iTunes, nor when disconnected from the computer. Green light showing always.

When I try to play music with headphones attached the green light remains steady, regardless what controls I push. It never blinks or anything..

Yeah-did the reset, tried another set of headphones.

Its a 2G...and I am beginning to think its time may have come.

Will let it 'rest' a few more days before giving up. Maybe it needs more drying out....

Yes-have actually done that twice.

Think I have exahusted nearly everything....
