Does the iPad lock to one sim for data?

I want to get a sim card for my new iPad... If I try one for a month on pay as you go with orange; but then decide I'm not happy with the service can I then buy one from three and use that straight away?.. Or does the iPad lock to a certain supplier?

iPad (3rd gen) Wi-Fi + Cellular

I know, I selected iPad then it made me choose from 3 'phone' options before I could go any further

iPad SIM card slots have never been locked, and no, they do not lock to the first carrier on use. You can switch as often as you wish.
