Is possible to download Xcode for Snow Leopard?

Hi all,

sorry for my English but I don't speak it very well.

I'm a programmer (small programmer 🙂 ), but I'm not an expert with Mac but I want tot start to "study" the App world (just for fun 😉 )

I have a Macbook and I want to try to use Xcode. I have Snow Leopard (10.6.2) OS but I can find Xcode 4.X only for Lion OS!!!

Is possibile to download XCode 4 for Snow Leopard? And where is possible to download?

Thanks for help!

MacBook, XCode Snow Leopard

Yes, you must pay for a subscription as a Mac OS X developer, $99.00 US per year. This will allow you to download XCode 4.2. (I think, I don't have a paid subscription). Your operating system will need to be updated to 10.6.8.

And where is possible to download?

Here is a starting point. https://developer.apple.com/programs/

And XCode is available from optional installs on the 10.6 Install DVD. I still haven't gotten around to installing it, so I don't know exactly which version that is. But it's certainly not the current one for which you have to pay $99. But it's probably more than good enough to learn with.

You can still find it on the web today (via those small files with an address in them, NOT through apple themselves...)

I strongly suggest you not touch any Apple software downloads that are not from Apple themselves. This is the main way crooks are getting keyloggers and other malware on Mac user's computers. They load up installer packages with other software that shouldn't be there, and it gets installed along with what you're expecting.

AFAIK the 3.2.6 is still available with a free Developer Account>Navigate to Developer Tools.

Yup, all you need to do is sign up for a developer's account, even if you have no intention of ever developing any software. You then have access to download all of the various versions of Xcode. You don't even have to pay the $99 fee.

My post above was to warn against downloading such software from anywhere but Apple.

With the exception that I believe the latest version of XCode for Snow, forget the version right now (not the 3.2.6), does require a paid dev account.

Ah! Gotcha. Just looked again and you are correct. 3.2.6 is the latest SL version you can get free.

The ADC site isn't working worth a darn in SL's version of Safari. Where you should have a list of items, it comes up blank most of the time. Works correctly in Firefox.
