My burned audio CD/DVD from iTunes doesn't play on a CD/DVD audio player

If I burn audio CD or DVD from my iTunes, I cannot play this music on an external player. Any recommendations? Thanks

Just so you know iTunes cannot burn DVD-Audio discs.

I suspect you may be burning Data discs, instead of Audio discs which is the reason your players won't play the CD.

Open iTunes Prefs > Advanced > Burning and see what option you have selected. If it is not Audio CD then select that option. From now on any disc you burn, until you change this option again, will play in a standard CD player. Just be sure and use only CD-R media and not CD-RW.

Hi I just burned an MP3 CD straight from iTunes, and it doesn't play on any MP3 CD player I've tried it on (car MP3 deck, DVD player that plays audio CDs, and MP3s). Audio CDs burned from iTunes work fine though.

I've read somewhere, that when burning MP3 CDs from iTunes, iTunes burns it with Apples standard format, rather than CD players standard format of ISO 9660. And that is the reason why burned MP3 CDs from iTunes only plays on a Mac.

A work around I've done was select all the songs from my list duplicate them in another folder, and then reconvert them in MP3s (so that I don't have to search all over the place for each MP3 file). I then burned these MP3s onto a CD-R using toast's MP3 CD format. And it works on all my MP3 CD players. However, in doing this process, I've lost all the tags for each MP3. The only thing that comes up in the display is the name of the song. Artist, Album, etc... don't show up anymore.

Is there a way of burning an MP3 CD that will play on all MP3 enabled players, while keeping all ID Tags intact, in iTunes?

Thanks.

You can use any music file format that iTunes supports: MP3, AAC, AIFF, etc (not Protected AAC). Toast will then burn those files to DVD in the appropriate format.

1. Open Toast.
2. Choose the Audio tab.
3. If you do not see the "Formats" drawer click the small button with the blue arrow in the upper left corner, above the area where you drop the files. In the "Formats" drawer choose Music DVD.
4. Use the Media Browser in Toast 7 to drag and drop the songs you want on the Music DVD into Toast. If you do not have Toast 7 you can drag and drop files directly from the iTunes window into the Toast window.
5. Click burn.

For more information on burning DVD Music discs using Toast consult the Help files for Toast.
