Im trying to update my software but it keeps saying no update found & when I try to download/update the new iTunes it tells me my software basically wont support it. And says "This software requires Mac OS X Version 10.6.8 or later" Whats really going on?
MacBook (13-inch Early 2009), Mac OS X (10.5.8)

10.5.8 is superceded by a new OSX ... 10.6, or Snow Leopard. You can buy the DVD for SL online: http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard

I dont see why we should have to pay 19.95 just to update itunes.
There must be another way ?
If iTunes is important enough, $19 is not too bad. Even Windows 8 upgrade prices start at $80, at the cheapest place. Full Windows 8 licenses will be around $200 most likely.
Besides, there are security updates for both Java and general system available for SL, while Leoprd has been al but abandoned.
